how do i drill a straight hole?

Yes, but a boring bar bit every size hole for only about $100.00 and it is just as accurate as your lathe.

how do i drill a straight hole?

The original question was "How do you drill a straight hole?" The answer is short and sweet with no exceptions: You Don't. Period. You don't drill it or ream it - You Bore It. No exceptions, no spin, no fluff just plain and simple - You bore it.

    Factory or Cue Maker?

I like the way you slipped that in....... You make me out the Ogre. I believe the forum rules apply to everyone. Trent is not an exception. Not only that.....In my opinion - No cuemaker should undermine another cuemaker by saying he is overpriced. That is pure jealousy. Then to quote a...

    Future of cuemaking

Anything worth having came at great cost. If it was easy everybody would be successful. The first thing is to not let anything keep you from succeeding. Work hard, use your machinist skills and if you have questions ask me, Paul Dayton, Dick Neighbors or Sherm Adamson for help. There are...

    Our country has been attacked..

It is great to hear that you and your family are OK. We are kind of like a separated family here on AZ. We fight and bicker, yell and scream at each other but at the end of the day we are all family and care about each other. Good Cuemaking,

    1/2" pin?

I wouldn't want to make a cue with a .500 inch pin because the wall of wood surrounding the pin would be too thin to adequately support the pin; especially if joint collars were used. Basically there would be almost nothing to hold the joint together. Starting with an .840 inch diameter joint...

    Is taper roll acceptable?

Mr. Rick Geschrey When I spoke to you on the phone the other day it was in the spirit of cooperation and a sincere desire to share knowledge. It was not to criticize your work or practices. I also explained that I did not want to discuss the way you do your shaft inserts etc in this public...

    Is taper roll acceptable?

Dave...Thanks for telling it the way it is. The term "taper roll" is just an excuse for sloppy work, or a warped cue and refusal to accept responsibility. Drilling, boring and taping a shaft after it is at finish size insures that everything is done correctly and fits perfectly. Thanks again,

    Why leave off a ring?

You are correct. But the added ring if done in phenolic will help keep the front from splitting.
