    Giveaway, Muecci Original Gambler

Since my son owns three Gamblers already, this one would be a great addition so put me in. A refinish job and it'll be a great gift for him. Thanks for the opportunity...Ken

Does pool glasses made for pool really help you play pool better?

I agree 100% with Mr Hoope on this. A Progressive lense is cut so only the center portion of the lense is actually in focus. I'd guess from 1/4 to 1/3 of the width of the lense is cut for your vision...the rest might not even exist. My normal glasses are progressive and if you aren't looking...

    Most Common Pool Quotes

Here's one that we've all heard...and we'd all be millionares if we got a nickle... "I haven't played for a long time but I used to be really good". I don't think that one was on Jam's original post...more than 5 words. L8R...ken

    Oops!!!

While reading the 'Linen Cleaning' thread, there was mention of something 'bad' happening to a cue that the cue maker was working on...someone elses cue to boot. Made me think... What was the biggest OOPS that has happened to you while working on someone elses cue? And how did you remedy the...

    Help****linen or bison

Green speck would look good since you have green in the cue. Black Bison would work too...pretty generic color. How about both? Green speck for front and rear three inches and bison in center 6 inches. Never seen that done (at least with two different materials). The leather would catch...

Two Piece Cue Stuck at Joint

Sometimes a good hard 'rap' with you hand on the side of the joint will loosen it up a bit. Don't hit it so hard that the cue snaps in half, but a good firm smack might work. Works for me more often than not. L8R...Ken

    2 an stop 1 hole

That's the way I understand it too. Seems like it could be a workable spot with the right person. Advantage to you under most circumstances I believe...unless you get a really good player who understands the game well. You still can play some lock up safeties but you just wouldn't be able to...

    Beware of repro exhibition posters...

The seller does say it is a "Repro from the 80's". Maybe that was added after your original post...maybe not. Looks all square to me though. L8R...Ken

Whats your practice routine? Or do you even have one?

I.... -shoot two racks of random shot...just throw the balls out and shoot them in...basically to get in stroke. -shoot some spot shots from off the head rail. -put OB's on rail at diamonds all around the table and shoot the balls in...two tables worth. -shoot a 9-ball rack of banks. -shoot...

enhancing the wood grain on the butt of a cue

Yeah Paul...I never said it was easy. The aquaferrous is a product you can purchase but I'm sure it's the same product that you've described. And yes, it is a water based liquid ('aqua' refers to water and '[I]ferrous[I] refers to metal). Thanks for the warning though. I have never tried it...

enhancing the wood grain on the butt of a cue

Some of the3 classic gun makers...those guys that make those beautiful Flint Lock Muzzle Loaders...us a chamical called Aquapherous (sp). It is a form of watered down acid that reacts slightly differently to the grains of the curly and birdseye maple. In the curly maple, the curl comes from...

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

I'll answer that for you Jeff...since nobody from the ISPA ever reads this stuff. Yes they can. There are some standards that need to be followed but as far as what other organization a League is associated with...the ISPA doesn't care. It is an IOWA Association for IOWA based Leagues...

    Valley rules queston. Please help.

Sir, I believe you were trying to link a direct rule when you used the word "here". Your link did not work. Could you try again or cut and paste the rule so we can all see where you are quoting from...those rules might just change most ideas in this thread about simulaineous hits. I believe...

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

No problems. Just find a league that you like and have them join the ISPA. You do know the ISPA does not care who your sponsoring League is. So long as they are based in Iowa. Actually, I'm thinking that all of the Leagues in and around Des Moines will be joining the ISPA. A City the size...

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

You heard right. In 2013, the best state level pool tournament in Iowa will be moving to Des Moines to become even better. Just think of some of the advantages this will provide. You will now be able to play other League players form all over the state...not just the East half. If you...

    10 ball rules

Quote from itsfroze: "In Ten Ball also say you call a long hard shot and the ball bobbles in the pocket and then rolls a few inches over on the short rail and happens to leave your opponent safe he can also make you shoot again if he so chooses, I am pretty sure." That's not written in the...
