Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Congrats to all you DM players that did well. It seemed to be a pretty good tournament this year all things considered. My team did the best we've ever done...4th in OL1. I was rather proud of my son...he got 5-6 in OL@ 8ball singles. First time he's ever done better than win 2 - lose 2...

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Jeff, The ISPA is completely independent...not affiliated with any national organization. None could offer the ISPA anything (except an extended open hand for our players money) so we kept it here in the state. I am not aware of any nationally affiliated state tournament other than the VNEA...

    Leagues.

I agree. There is also not an ACS or Other catagory either. There are two independent leagues in my home town and an Independent State Association (that, by the way has the biggest State Level Tournament in the US) in this state. My current League affiliations are ACS, VNEA and ISPA so I...

    Simonis color

I remember, maybe a little over a year ago this same topic came up. I seem to recall the overwhelming concensus was green. As a matter of fact, I believe the Tournament Blue color was cursed and spat upon. Seems to have taken a turn towards the blue. Of course, the voting is still early...so...

Earl & Johnny "Bad Blood" this Sat/Sun -Read inside for new details!

Greg, This could be a very interesting look into each of these player. The everyday life of our pro pool players is somethig most of us do not ever hear about. I know Earl works out quite a bit and that may be a good topic. If you could capture his daily exercise regiment, that might be...

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Thanks ykndoit, I had fun playing 9-ball this year...not so much in the 8-ball singles. I just can't understand a race to 2 in a state championship tournament. I could have saved $40 and stayed home for a race to 3. Oh well, some rumors they may adjust (longer) next year because Gary Benson...

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

I'll be there too. Maybe I'll see some of you guys. Sure would appreciate some participation from you Iowa boys over on the ISPA site...been pretty dead over there for so long, it aint hardly worth checking daily. There are a couple of discussions that could use some opinions though. Try...

    Berhmans letter American Pro Pool

I agree with Scott Lee here. The reorganization of the BCA a few years ago was designed to get rid of any participation with pool players...as a result, the BCAPL was formed ( and subsequently the ACS as well). They concentrate on the pool equipment suppliers now, not the players. Maybe a new...

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Short answer is no. And I really don't know if they will continue it. I was the main push for that and the Seniors but now that I am out of the loop...who knows. I sure hope they keep the Juniors Event going...that is our future. See you there if you make it...Ken

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

There's a thread on the ISPA web site addressing the location...by someone else this time. I know it's been pretty dead over there, but now might be a good time to post in that thread and let the powers that be know how you feel. Maybe the new president will take the hint and try to move it...

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Sure makes it hard for those real Open players though. That's why so many don't want to go and why so many try to get into a lower division. I guess if he don't win it, it's only because he got beat by a better Master player in the Open division ;). See you in a couple of weeks...Ken

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Gary Benson is running that tournament this year. He doesn't usually provide the brackets but you can see who your opponent is by looking at the table number and time (you probably already knew that). If you're looking to see who your next opponent is, you'll just have to wait for a couple of...

    Wooden bead scorer question

If you go to a hardware store, you can buy some of that cord with the foam core inside of it. Looks like parachute cord. If you are carefull, you can remove the foam and thread a wire into that woven exterior shell. It will compress to fit tightly on the wire when drawn tight. Might give...

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Do you all have your starting times/matches posted for the VNEA tournament yet? I just noticed it on our local web site. I only mentioned this because I noticed that Troy (T-dog) drew Jamie Fenton in a noon match. I hate going to a state or out of town tournament and drawing somebody from...

    Makers Choice

I think it would be interesting if some of the great cue builders on this site would show and tell thier favorite cue that they built. Maybe an interesting story behind the design, a tougher than usual build or just the one they really liked how it turned out. Might put a different perspective...
