Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Good idea.

I've never had a schon of my own.

Love them Schons...I've owned an LTD 642 and a STL 20. Only a few days and then off to Davenport for doubles and team. Is it possible Des Moines will sweep the 3 mens singles again???

I don't know numbers -- maybe someone else can dig them up. But for the most part -- I think if your going to one tournament a year -- it's probably the ISPA.

Valley seems like it's a more 'social' tournament. maybe it's just me.

Hard to see DM sweeping the events in the QC.

Is the ISPA the BCAPL or what?

So which THREE men's singles are you referring to...
Seniors, Level 1 and Level 2; Seniors, Level 2 and Masters or Seniors, Level 1 and Masters? As I recall, a DM player didn't win the Seniors last year . Hard to repeat if you don't do it the first time .

Well, if any town can win all four divisions...now that would be something to whoop it up about. Three is quite a feat in itself and I don't want to take anything away from you guys...just don't forget that quiet fourth division...we're no sloushes either.

Good luck tomorrow and the rest of the week...see you there.

Jeff, The ISPA is completely independent...not affiliated with any national organization. None could offer the ISPA anything (except an extended open hand for our players money) so we kept it here in the state.

I am not aware of any nationally affiliated state tournament other than the VNEA (IOMA) in Iowa. There is talk of the ACS trying to get one going as a result in the sucessful regional tournament in Riverside. Nothing concrete yet though. I heard that they were proposing a tournament in DM, probably Prairie Meadows, but that's only rumors.

Thanks for the response. I've been confused by all the letters and organizations lately....I didn't have a clue and everyone I asked seemed to be as unelighted as I.

I had just read Mark Griffin's response in his thread before I came back here and he told me yours is not one of his events. Now I know.

Make it a great weekend, groovy guys, groovy gals.

My apologies Ken, I didn't clarify... Open/Intermediate/Masters i.e. Theo, Phil Tindrell, and Jamie...and I am not comparing to last year, but to the Valley tournament this year. I assume the answer was no...just trying to motivate people. Carry on.

Don't sell yourself short Ken, you're a tremendous slouch. Sorry, I can NEVER pass up a good Caddy Shack quote opportunity. :p

Plus there were a handful of pretty strong DSM players that didn't go to Valley, or didn't play in any of the singles events that will be in Davenport.

A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock.

So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald...striking.

So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver, he hauls off and whacks one- big hitter, the Lama- long, into a ten-thousand foot crevice, right at the base of this glacier. And do you know what the Lama says? "Gunga galunga...gunga- gunga lagunga."

So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know?"

And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness."

So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.
