cross slide play I installed a dial indicator on the cross slide. So the knob play doesnt come in to play at all on mine. Try it, you might like it..

new deluxe I drove 12 hours to valley forge to meet chris and see the new deluxe. All i can say is, it will make the older deluxes obsolete. What a nice machine. It really looked great. The headstock is beefier too.. I may have to sell my 10 month old deluxe to buy the new one. Prolly no more...

no I vote no. The headstock and chuck is much bigger and heavier than the smaller lathes. You need an AC motor with dual windings. Enco has an import motor that is reversable. Good Luck

Deluxe all the way Get the deluxe, it will do everything you need and then some. Don't buy twice. Buy once. If you buy the midsize, within 2 months you will be kicking yourself in the butt.

belts Why not add a belt tensioner? It would be cheaper. Belts are cheap. Just a thought..
