    Renting Diamond/Valley Tables for Tournament?

On Monday, try calling Brian at Diamond Tables at 812-288-7665. He should be able to steer you in the right direction for renting Diamond tables, which I assume is for a big tournament.

    has pool ruined your life?

I had a HELLUVA good life and it all went to SHIT because of pool. My wife ran off with the pool boy. I NEVER really wanted to have that swimming pool.

    Poll: smoking and pool

I agree as well. However, here in WA state, the drafters of the "No Smoking" law now in effect wrote, and promoted, the bill from an "employee rights" standpoint. In other words, regardless of the target clientele of a business, the employees of that company/business have a right to smoke-free...

Looking at the cueball last when breaking

I should add that if my control of whitey on the break is going south, I will look at whitey last the next time or two that I break. Doing so helps get my 9-ball break shot back in tune.

Looking at the cueball last when breaking

That's great that it works for you. I used to look at the cue ball last on every shot... that was quite some time back now (10 years?). I since have learned to look at the cue ball last and my game has steadily improved from that point on. Several years back, Nick Varner came up to...

    What's a Good Group Game?

With two better and two lesser players, it's tough to beat scotch doubles if the teams are even. Look at it this way... the better players should strive for pinpoint position for whitey so that the lesser player on their team need only play a simple stun shot to get position on the next ball...

    Simonis x-1

I'm of the opinion that brushing a table is a waste of time... and may actually harm the cloth. On my Diamond Pro Am I only use a wetted micro fiber cloth... and do so on a regular basis. My cloth is now 3+ years old and is in great shape. The other, perhaps more important issue is to...

Not to be Captain Obvious, but...

The size of the table makes a difference as several have mentioned... but what you did not mention is the size of the pockets and the shelf depth of the slate. Diamond tables with their standard Pro Cut pockets play tough... especially on a 9-footer. 8-foot tables in a bar are FAR easier to...

    Poll: smoking and pool

Here's what I believe is truly the HEART of the issue... cigarette smoke STINKS... there, I said it. Pls read on. My smoking background. I started with cigarettes at age 17 (1966) ... and smoked regularly until I quit cold turkey in '73 after 7 years. At the time that I quit I was smoking 2+...

    Pool balls

Here you go.. I did it for you... it was for 8 sets A set of these would be my choice. A set came with my Diamond table. They are fine balls. And they come with a Measles cue ball for that price, saving you ~$20 if you bought one separately.

    Pool balls

Someone not too long ago was selling six sets of Aramith Super Pro balls for $140/set. I believe that they were "tournament used". You might want to search the For Sale forum to find that thread.

What's the weakest part of your game

Try this... throw out 1/2 dozen balls randomly on the table. Take BIH and try to make the balls in numerical order... like you are playing 9-ball. Play position to get within a shaft length (29") of your next object ball to be made. Target that position for each and every shot. Doing so, you...

What's the weakest part of your game

The weakest part of my game is knowing when to duck. I attempt too many difficult shots when I should rather be playing safe.
