    Leg levelers?

Your AMF is not 1965 vintage....more like 1990, as far as the frame and rails pictured. Are you looking for the "foot" with the threaded leveling pin? If so you can replace the insert (in the pedestal) and use a gold crown foot which are readily available for about $100.00 Jay

    Leg levelers?

A 1965 AMF grand Prix had the leveling mechanizim on top of the pedestal between the frame and the pedestal. the levelers were not in the feet. The Grand Prix had a fixed circular chrome foot on the bottom of the double diamond base. If you post some pictures of the table I'm sure someone will...

    Gold crown #?

Do the aprons bolt to the bottom of the rails or do they "clip" into a J channel along the edge of the rail? If they are bolted you have a three. Many of the ones and twos had the under skirting removed. The easiest way to determine your tables model is to post pictures. Jay

Need help taking off Simmonis to redo the seams on the table

If you insert some paper, like a business card size in the seams then use the super glue, the paper will "wick" the super glue. When it's time to separate the slates, prying the seams will rip the paper without damaging the edges of the slate. Jay

    AMF Grand Prix 4.5x9

I'm the one who talked about Manhattan raybestos cushions. They are no longer available. I wish they were, great cushion!. The AMF grand Prix was a great table for the era. Same frame as a Gold Crown, very unique leveling device between the top of the leg and the frame on the early models...

Does this table need new cushions?

The AMF Grand Prix used Manhattan raybestos K66 cushions, possibly the best cushion ever made. I've never had to replace a set because they were hard or dried out. You may have to re glue the cushion to the liner but that's a minor repair that can be done at the time you recover the table...

JZmechanix made a service call yesterday

Jack, Nice work! great pictures also. As far as pocket angles on Gold crowns, I like the play of 4.5 inch at the corner pocket openings with 140 degree throat angles and 13 degree down angles. I've found this combination to be tough and fair from all the entree angles, especially down the rail...

    No brainer ?

40-50 degree storage temps swings will not harm most tables. Any commercial tables such as Gold Crowns will be fine. I have many stored in unheated storage for months and even years without problems. The most important thing in storage of tables is to make sure they stay DRY. Standing water and...

    Gold Crown slates?

Carl, Pinned and doweled refers to the hollow inserts that the Pins (male) insert go into on the adjacent slate. The hollow dowel that receives the solid pin helps to reinforce the slate where it's been drilled. The 4 pins and dowels on each slate seam held the two surfaces flush and eliminated...

    Wanted: Cloth suggestions

JC, I see it everyday, If the mechanic does the job incorrectly, the cloth company or the table manufacturer or the cushion company gets a bad rap about their product. In reality, it's the skill of the mechanic that makes or breaks the playability of any table-cushion-cloth combination. The...
