Best pool novels that should be movies

I always thought "Do It For The Game" would make a good movie. Kookie characters, funny stories, love interest but most of all a story of redemption. I did get a call way back in the day from an attorney asking me if anyone represented me on the movie rights but I only heard from him once. Bob

The Impossible Dream? Resurrecting Professional Pool. In, Yes, America.

I remember the days when I published "All About Pool...Everywhere" I would report on a tournament and then have to deal with the poolroom owner and players because they wanted "residuals" because their name/room was mentioned.

This is great. Thanks. I remember Zsa Zsa almost beat him. He had to shark her. As an aside, didn't everything just scream out 60's!!!!

    Smoking vs. smoke free

Sorry Kim, but I have the business records. I lost 60% of my table time immediately. After a month or two I regained 20% of that loss but I was still down 40% and it never recovered. It took a year and a half but I was forced to close the room. That was however ten years ago almost. I would...

    Palmer

deanoc- geez-- you must be a Democrat.... actually if we are honest, this posting doesn't belong here anyway- the OP said "Although these are not for sale....." He's not selling so they shouldn't be in the Wanted/For Sale section. Actually I think more people would get to enjoy the post if it...

    strongest spot you have seen

gromulan you beat me too it. I did the same thing. I won 2 out of 3. It was also sweet because though he was a D. he had a very high opinion of himself and was overall obnoxious. Bob

    Chris's Billiards

I'm from Boston but every time I travel to Chicago I try to stop into Chris's. To me it is a good old school room. I was talking to one of the new owners, Buddy, recently and he told me they were getting new Diamond tables. They were planning to upgrade the room. They won't have them for a...

There Is NO Hope For Pro Pool IMO

Agree with all of what you have said Johnnyt. And in the end, it all comes down to, nobody watches pool because it is BORING. Last time I was at Hopkins show I said to my buddy "Let's go to the pro arena and watch some matches." He responded with an incredulous look on his face "Watch them? Are...

FS- 1940's Ebony Titlist Conversion by AE Cue w Extra Lomax Shaft

atthecat- had a couple of Hoppe's refinished for me as well. I always kept the handle the original diameter though. I was trying to figure out how I could grab it, but I certainly understand. Not only is this cue spectacular, your 1914 Brunswick is absolutely breathtaking. Rep for you for...

They don't make them like they used to

That was great. I also go a big chuckle out of Gary Moore and him smoking away. I particularly liked how "cool" he held the cigarette. There were "cool guy" poses. Bob

Emotional Story from League Last Night

Was a cool story until the part where the father and son "split". They couldn't agree to play 1 game for the championship? Even though it was late and they had to get up the next day? Of course they knew when they played they would have to get up for work and if they played for the championship...

if someone told you which ball to hit, how much improvement?

I did this exact thing back in the day with Grady. My high was 28 at the time. He set up an initial break shot and next thing I know I was finishing the 3rd rack. He told me what ball to hit and what, if any, english to use. My high is 54 now. Unfortunately I haven't played straight pool in a...

Sellers charging paypal/credit card fees. Your opinion?

You have to remember there are really no "big business" on this site. Just regular folks trying to make or recover a buck. But if you are a legit business and you ask for the fees, I'd just go somewhere else. Just like I do when the gas station wants more for cash or charge. My choice.

Ahhhh....the old freedom of choice thing. Don't like paying the paypal fees? Don't buy the product. Problem solved.
