Is It helpfull to my game to play on a snooker table

I think that this is probably right. Snooker is good for straightening up your stroke - and teaching you to keep still on the shot. If you can get to a table, it is worth spending a week or two every year playing it just for that. But other than that, the best way to improve your pool is to...

Mika: Worked on the back hand a lot?

Makes sense to me. In my opinion, that back hand control is not given as much emphasis in pool as it should be. I have a theory (with no real evidence to support it) that snooker players are more tuned in to this area of technique than pool players. To the extent that this is true, it...

distractions while playing (how do you deal)

If you can change your attitude to these distractions, you may find them easier to deal with. Ideally you want to generate a mindstate that says that the distractions themselves are not the problem: the problem is internal, ie you are not dealing with them effectively. The reason why this...

Probably a dumb question, but have you shaped the tip?

pulling the triger without warm up strokes

I am a great believer in cutting down on the number of practice strokes. I would not recommend zero strokes in games, but as an exercise it can be quite beneficial. For me the important thing is that if you are going to cut down your practice strokes, you should make sure that you are properly...

If you could do just ONE thing to make you Pool Game better what would it be.

Love it! The next tournament I play, I am going to try that line on a couple of guys .;)

    Table/shooting speed/rythym ........ consistancy.

Good move. Finding a speed / rhythm that suits you and then repeating it every shot is important IMO. You can take varying amounts of time working out what to do, depending on the complexity of the shot or the table layout. But this should be before you go into your pre shot routine. It...

    Almost Ran Out!

you must spread joy wherever you go... In the space of 2 posts you have turned the sharing of an excellent achievement into a rather petty argument over equipment. Way to go Gordon.

Whats everyones opinon on text messaging during your game

Rude and very annoying. Should try not to get too annoyed though, since most times the other guy isn't aware how anti-social they are being.

Great pairing I agree, but Karen Corr is from Northern Ireland.

    Focus on Focus

Yes, and I think that developing a rhythm around the table helps a lot with this. This is particularly true in games lwhere high runs are involved, eg 14.1, snooker or english billiards. Doesn't seem to apply with all players though.

    Focus on Focus

I agree. Unless I am enjoying what I am doing, there is no way I can focus. I guess that is one of the reasons why when things start going, they just get worse. My focus is often at its best when I just watch what the balls are doing instead of fixating on whatever it is I am trying to...

    Characterize your grip pressure, please

This about sums up my grip also. I have found that it helps to have the first finger contact only at its tip (in contrast to the other fingers, which touch the cue at the fingers' middle section). The last one or two fingers come off the cue at the end of the backswing. If I can get the cue...

    New to AZ

Welcome PegLeg! Your story is very similar to mine: I used to play a fair bit but then took a 20 year break (although I did play snooker for the first 10 of those). Then they put in a table at work and I got back into it. That was about 3 years ago, and I am absolutely loving it! Wife is not...

Choking on your moneyball after a difficult run

Stop and think where you want to put the white. I agree. Stop and decide where to put the c.b. If nothing else, this will introduce a pause that should stop you rushing into the shot, making it more likely that you will follow your pre-shot routine.
