Unknown Ohio road men of an earlier era

Ohio Road Players Thanks Jay for that brief on the top Ohio players of the 60's era. Having grown up in Cincinnati, graduating from HS in 1959, and playing in all of the Cincinnati area tournaments, I knew and played several of the players you described, including Donnie Anderson, Clem and...

Here It Is The SILVER GINACUE

Gina Thank you for posting the pics. I have the dubious honor of being the first to view them. I also have the dubious honor of owning the Gina cue that Ernie appears holding in the pool book, "Shooting Pool", text by Mike Shamos and photographs by George Bennett. My cue is pictured opposite...

    Jay Helfert, re: Gary Spaeth

I must defend my home boy, Bugs. Gary was a great player, and I really liked the kid, but I believe Bugs was a better banker, especially for giant money. I'll concede the rest of the field to Gary. As I said, I really liked the kid. I knew him from when he was little, and he was always...

    Jay Helfert, re: Gary Spaeth

Granpa Spaeth Most people don't know that Gary Spaeth's grandpa, aka, "Northside Eddie Spaeth" was an awesome player and he taught his son, Joey Spaeth how to play. No one could come close to Eddie's speed in the 1940's and 50's. He played at Mergard's bowling alley in Northside, a tough...

    A "Real" Offer to Grady

I agree. Grady can't beat Jimmy with 9 - 8. If he got the break and pick two, however, it might be a different story? Though I did watch and stake Scott Frost a few years back at the DCC when he gave the great Billy Incardona such a bet and walked away with the cash.

Would These Be the top 8 in the USA?

What if? IMHO, if the "Pearl" spent a week with John "Get Back Jack" Madden at Jack's digs in St Ignatius, Montana, and let Jack work with him in the same manner as top pro golfers, i.e., Tiger and Phil work with their select "swing coaches", he would come away able to beat anyone on your...
