    "Beating the kiss" advice?

Here's one simple, and very general, rule: If you could shoot the cue ball straight into the pocket you are banking away from (i.e., opposite from the pocket you are banking towards), there is no kiss. Stated another way, if the object ball you are shooting would not interfere with an attempt...

White House Takes a Cue from Kansas

Nice story, JAM. Makes me feel pretty good about my Brunswick Anniversary -- also restored with care right there in Clay Center, Kansas.

One of the craziest shots I have ever seen. What is the call?

I saw the same thing happen a few months ago during league play. The whole place came to a standstill. First and only time I've ever seen it in 40+ years of playing.

Is Buddy Hall still playing at all?

I watched Buddy put up a 7-pack at the 10 ball ring game at Shooter's in Olathe, KS a few months ago. Smooth as butter. I'd say he still plays.

OK, I don't know if it is just me...

Ah, Big Bertha at Raytown Rec. Played on it many a time. If you're learning from Don or Doug, you got a good teacher. Play some one pocket on that table. Or better yet, have Don or Doug teach you some three cushion on the Verhoven.

OK, I don't know if it is just me...

Lighten up a little. You can let him know not to touch your stuff without permission without losing him as a friend. BTW, where is this "10 footer" you speak of? Not many of those around any more.

    2008 AZ Straight Pool Challenge!

Ran 41 the other night in league play. Ended when I dogged the key ball to a perfect break ball. Things were flowing so well up to that point that I just let my concentration lapse for a moment. That's what makes this game so hard -- even on those rare occasions when it's feeling easy.

Honestly, I'm REALLY fed up with straightpool.

I'd be careful listening to this Harriman guy. I watched him play last night and he couldn't run more than ten balls. Well, he did run ten twice, though. Oh, and he was playing banks. Just kiddin' ya, Danny. I learned a couple things last night. Steve

TAR: Schmidt Wins $20,000 at the TAR Action All Around 2 presented by OB Cues

Yes, the winner is $10k richer than he was before he put the money up. But once the money is on the light, it's no longer his -- none of it. When he wins, he is $20k richer than he would have been if he lost. But I understand what you mean. TAR, my hat's off to you guys. I was there Saturday...

    Harriman and schmidt

After John broke out the jump cue and headed to the table, Danny called him on it, saying that they had agreed to use jump cues only in the 10 ball, same as in Louisville. At first, John asked Danny if he had it in writing. Then all the TAR guys confirmed that that was the rule in Louisville...
