    The DCC

Totally! I had thought about utilizing those cell dealies too; the main downfalls might be the occasional "delayed" text message that inevitably happens every now and then, and the possibility of poor cell reception in the venue for one or more providers. As you said, put the ultimate...

    The DCC

When the first restaurant used those, they probably also worried about theft, and you don't even have to pay an entry fee or give a last name to make a reservation at a restaurant. So there may be practical ways to avoid losing devices. In any case, if announcing matches over the loudspeakers...

    The DCC

Maybe the cost would be prohibitive in the short term, but it seems like utilizing those pager dealies that some restaurants use would be the way to go eventually.

Best 14:1 Player Ever-John Schmidt or Willie Mosconi?

Using Willie's equipment is an interesting idea and it would certainly provide the potential for a fair comparison of runs to be made, but why not just let sleeping dogs lie? In a way it seems like the only reason to do this is to prove a point and maybe to make Willie Mosconi turn over in his...

    BUTCHERS WAX for SHAFTS

Does it rub off at all on the rail cloth or in your case? If not, my shaft could use some slickening so I might have to try some. :)

Not if you shoot it with inside. :)

    What would you do here?

Wow! Nice shot. Here is the first thing that came to my mind other than taking the foul: http://CueTable.com/P/?@4AFdT1BNAg2CXvt2DCmc2ESIO3FWnE2GDwv3HWKJ4IQWh3PadI3kadI1kBUi1kbVo4kUIo@ Another possible way to shoot at the 9...

WTB: Gold Crown Drop Pockets (pocket liner inserts)

I'm looking for a used set of drop pockets for a Brunswick Gold Crown. If you have a used set that you'd like to get rid of, please let me know. I'd prefer the Gold Crown III set. I don't think the IV or V set will fit my table. I see new ones online, but I'm hoping to save some money and...

Interesting (to me, anyway) Rules Question

I think it's because the casino still has the nuts. They probably figured out that they earn more money from the good will and perception of an advantage created than they lose due to the assistance that the cards create. That could be analogous to two people gambling. It's up to the guy who...

    Blue Diamond Chalk

I couldn't decide if I'm qualified to reply or not. Please clarify... are you referring to our skill levels when we're playing with Masters or with Blue Diamond? I mean, normally I'm only just a run of the mill league hack who plays with ordinary Master chalk but every now I like...

    What's your pet peeve?

Pool Pet Peeves - Racking issues. - Money ball on the break counts as a win. - Chalk dust all over the rails due to upside down chalk cubes. - 5" pockets that won't take a ball hit down the rail with speed. - Opponent's BO cloud lingering even after he has left the table. - Too many flies...

    9 & 10-ball strategy.

IMO, if you don't like kicking at the 1-9, you may want to push to make the 6-9 combo. At least then the 9-ball is spotted up.

No slop 9 ball or 10 ball ?

You're not going to remove all the luck from the game by banning slop. However, by banning slop from rotation games, you are going to eliminate some exciting and skillful two-way shots because you are only allowed to call one ball per shot. That price is way too much to pay, IMO.

Advice for Wheelchair player (after heart transplant)

Those guys must really want to win badly to do something so mean-spirited. I tend to suspect they are just a bunch of jerks, but maybe they only need some help with their logic... Ask them why they think the "one foot on the floor" rule exists. The answer of course is to keep a player from...

Doug Wiley - Smorgass Bored, Come On Down

Jeez, our economy is melting down because greedy, irresponsible, dollar-whores were able to game it to the breaking point, and yet somehow people keep acting surprised and offended that V-Bulletin rep is not a fool-proof system. It's best to just enjoy the rep you get and don't...

    Hypothetical BCA situation

Aha, I found that in the BCA Pool League rules, the situation is addressed. You can just shoot in the 8-ball. 2.6 Establishing Groups 1. Groups are established when the first object ball is legally pocketed on a shot after the break. The player legally pocketing the first ball is assigned...
