    My Diveney in the works

Man, that's a nice looking cue. What did you go with for shaft diameter, weight of the overall cue and tip? Are you putting a 314 on this one too?

Best cue in the 100-150 price range?

Schmelke makes a nice sneaky pete that you can get in that range. Actually, in that price range you can probably customize it a bit, get it coco or bocote into birdseye maple, if you want.

Putting a Predator or OB-1 Shaft on custom?

Thanks, Poolpro. It's a sincere question, not a "I'm bored and want to stir the pot" one. I'd like to get my first custom for my upcoming 40th b-day, and am at this point really used to my 314-2. Hence the question. I forgot to say... Happy New Year all of you, and PATRIOTS RULE!! (okay...

Putting a Predator or OB-1 Shaft on custom?

Let me start out by saying that I do not want to start a thread on whether you guys do or don't like shafts like the 314-2 or OB-1. My question is this: Once you take as a given that a customer likes playing with a 314-2 or OB-1, would that customer be wasting his money by getting a custom just...

    Question adout skill level

I've been wondering the same thing. I'm more interested in the A-D rating system than APA. Can one of you guys please flesh out for me how you'd define a D, D+, C- and C player? Do these rating systems only apply to 9 ball, or 8 ball as well?

    An appropriate apology:

I've got to go with Dawgie and Darth on this. I can't help but think that getting into a pissing contest in front of hundreds of potential future customers isn't good business practice. You don't need an MBA in marketing to figure that one out.

    derby city room for sale!

I think I really like the word "gambletard." How have I gone my whole life without hearing that word? This just occurred to me, but I think this site should come up with some mechanism to identify hilarious threads like this that completely come off the tracks. I'm not going to the derby, and...

    Pool Slang

Not to nitpick, but I think it's "stakehorse." Unless, of course, you're talking about eating the poor horse.

TAR interviews Shane Van Boening/ 45 min Video Interview

I finally had the time to watch the interview last night. Shane comes off as very likeable and humble. It's funny that pool has a poor image, but I can't picture these guys on 'roids or fighting pitbulls. LOL. Justin- you did a really nice job with this. Keep up the good work! David

    playing the ghost

Is there an equivalent drill/practice game for 8 ball? Would it be the same--give yourself ball in hand after the break and try to run out? At this stage of my game, I never break and run in 8 ball, but maybe I could modify the rules a bit somehow.

FINALLY finished my house and set up my pool room (pics)

Congrats on your new room! I backpacked through Koh Samui way back in 1990, and had a blast. I'd sure trade it for Northwest Indiana, where I'm freezing my butt off now. Your next move is training your dog how to move around and bark only during your opponent's shots. I'm working on that...

    Giordano's pizza

I also live in Northwest Indiana and get Edwardo's in Munster all the time. They have a couple of them in Chicago, including Hyde Park. There used to be one in South Bend, but they closed. I'm sure I'll take some heat for this--but I like getting it with whole wheat crust. (I'm diabetic, so...

    Josey Rosewood SW-01 w/ 2 shafts

Nice looking cue. Wish I had some extra cash laying around. I don't want to tell you how to advertise your cue, but maybe in your description you should mention that it has the flare tip on the top of the point, which drives the price/value up. David

    Rails on furniture style tables

Thank you all for your answers. I think they're more scratches than dings, but there may be some minor dings. Maybe I'll look into the Jatoba in the future, but for now funds are a little tight to sink that kind of cash into new rails. My four year old twins mess around with the table a bit...

    Are 8' tables dinosaurs?

When I was in the market for a pool table last year the places I shopped said that the huge majority of tables they sold were 8 footers. I ended up going with the 8 foot pro. I find that it's really not that much of an adjustment when I go out to shoot on a 9.

Q: Anybody know of any celebrities that play pool ?

Someone somewhere told me that they'd sold a cue to Noah Wylie, and I think George Clooney too.

    Rails on furniture style tables

I bought my first table last year, an 8 foot pro Olhausen Remington. It is Traditional Mahogany on Maple, with graphite rails. Here's my question: I love my table, but am a bit surprised at how scuffed the rails are already with just normal, everyday use (3-7 hours/week, no rowdy drunks...
