    Shaft Cleaning,Smoothing?

Very lightly sand with 800 grit, just enough to remove the glaze. Then I use Hightower's shaft cleaner. Based on how dirty the shaft is, I may re-apply 2-3 times or until no more dirt shows on the paper towel. Then I use a dry paper towel to completely remove any moisture on the shaft. When the...

    Best glue for tips??

I always have one Loctite UltraGel and one LocTite thin in the refrigerator. When I open a bottle, I mark the date opened and chunk after 60 days. Then I retrieve the bottles out of the refrigerator and start the process over. This stuff is not expensive and I don't like to tips to come off...

Main Forum = CJ Wiley Forum now?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Yes! It's a great opportunity to interact personally with a player of C.J.'s calibre. I don't care where he posts. I'm gonna listen.

    Ultra Skin Tips

I've heard that but it hasn't been my experience. I always put a pad on ivory ferrules for protection. I also install a pad when the ferrule has been cut down below 12mm because of how thin the ferrule is. Occasionally, a player will ask for a red or blue pad just for looks.

    Ultra Skin Tips

The only UltraSkins I've installed have been mediums. IMO, they're a bargain. I think Tom could probably twice as much and still sell them easily.

CJ Wiley Runs 29 balls in 1P using TOI

That's gonna be tough for me since I was always taught to use "Running English" if possible. Looks like it's time to watch some videos and pay attention. If you and Efren use this method, I'm convinced! :thumbup2:

    Ultra Skin Tips

I've gotten 100% positive feedback on the UltraSkins so far. Not so much with Sniper. I ended up selling my last three Snipers to another cue repair guy since none of my customers seemed to be interested. Moori III is still the most popular tip I install though.

The little thing you changed that corrected everything

Level cue, steady head. And keep your eye on the aiming spot on the object ball until you see the cue ball hit it. Works for me, sometimes...

CJ Wiley Runs 29 balls in 1P using TOI

And that's not necessarily bad. I know this has been beat to death, but pool desperately needs an image update. Pool is a beautiful game that gets a bad rap, some of it deserved. :frown:

    Bought Glasses

I recently bought single vision glasses from my Optometrist using off the shelf frames. With my pupils centered in the lenses, the tops sat above my eyebrows. I can now clearly see balls at the other end of a 9' table. Tremendous difference! :thumbup2:

A Masters Week Wake-up Call -- Why Pool Beats Golf

Just to gloat a little. I took this photograph last year of Magnolia Lane. It's about ten minutes from my front door. I've played the course twice.

CJ Wiley Runs 29 balls in 1P using TOI

How the hell do you run 29 balls in one pocket on a triple shimmed table and folks nit pick you on the details? Geez! I, for one, am impressed!

CJ Wiley Runs 29 balls in 1P using TOI

Excellent point, CJ! I never thought about it that way. One of our local phenoms, who has now accumulated some years, used to play probably 95% of his shots at about the same speed with minimum spin. Absolute simplicity. He was almost unbeatable for 35 years. Now he's in his 70's but still can...

    Layered Tips Review (Results)

Very true. I always grab a fresh blade when shaping any new layered tip. I've also found that dampening the sides of layered tips when sizing to the ferrule makes a huge difference.
