I have Contacts (Progressive) but in my later years my eyes dry up within an hour and the drops are just not cutting it.

It will go one of two ways. 1. Practice every day to the point I scare myself. 2. Never play again but enjoy watching others play.

Oh, this question will be asked so, I bought them on line.

Tom,
I struggle with similar issues. I purchased billiard glasses recently too and they work well for me.

Hi Tom, I've worn glasses for over ten years and recently tried contacts, I am 60 now. At first they seemed great but as time went on the protein buildup became too much to deal with so I am back to glasses. I haven't totally given up on the contacts because my daughter said she had the same problems and her eye doc switched her to non silicone contacts. She wears them for over 14 hours at a time and it has stopped the protein issues for her. She's now using Frequeny 55 if memory serves me correctly and I am going to give it one last shot one of these days as well. I really liked the contacts better than the glasses for periphal vision and light glare from the overhead lights. Good Luck 2 u.

Man, I wish I could. I used to be able to sleep with them in. We however got you, an old fart, talking to me, an older fart. It just aint the same any more. I am just glad God blessed us with Viagra. :D

I actually started wearing contacts ... about 25 years ago because my glasses were interferring with my aiming in pool. I've been thru several iterations of contacts but now wear the disposable ones and they are very thin and gas permiable. I do on occasion get the "red eye irritation" and need to spend a fews days without them but I still think they are 1000% better than glasses. BTW, the first time I ever saw "billiard glasses" was on Nick Varner and that was many, many moons ago. Just my two cents.

I wear readers when i play as my eyes arent that bad and im 53, sometimes i dont use them, it depends.
But anyway, when i go target shooting, i have safety glasses that are in the +150-+250 range and they work well for that, havent tried them for pool yet but i might as the lens covers a wide area.
I use the +150 for most things and the +250 when i am reloading.
Maybe this will interest someone even if not for pool.

If you're looking for new drops try Systane Balance. That particular Systane drop has a lipid component to help keep the tear film from evaporating.

I couldn't wear contacts, hated tri-focal glasses so I got Lasik. It worked for me.

Try using saline drops. I buy a bottle of saline and pop the top off rewetting drop bottles and fill it up. I find that many rewetting drops irritate my eyes, but simple saline does wonders.

I am new to glasses and I have not even ordered my 1st pair yet so I am looking for advice. Heck, I'm still trying to get used to the new contacts the doc set me up with the other day. I wear bifocals and I am trying to figure out which would be best for me. Contacts or glasses and if glasses which of these 2 glasses are better or is it just a matter of taste?

Or will the contacts be better for playing. The doc said that because I need bifocals the contacts are a compromise and not as good as glasses would be. I am so lost so any information or experience with any of the products while playing pool would be helpful.

Thanks

I recently bought single vision glasses from my Optometrist using off the shelf frames. With my pupils centered in the lenses, the tops sat above my eyebrows. I can now clearly see balls at the other end of a 9' table. Tremendous difference! :thumbup2:
