    Full splice jig

So, what do you call a John Davis full splice? Full splice/handle splice or full splice/laminated splice, or if you are only interested in the look of a full splice, then the John Davis meets this requirement also. So what is wrong with the concept from the Canadian? It meets this requirement...

    Full splice jig

His original design is correct. The squared up stock with the 4 angles cut could be sawed into 4 pieces and the saw cuts will be on the outside which will be turned round. Your way adds a few steps into the process. The biggest problem I see is all the mating parts must have sharp ends. There...

Where are you guys getting 'real' wood veneer?

Back to the paper question. What material is being used between the wood veneers? Atlas has XXX black paper but it is 1/32,1/16,1/8, and 3/16 thick. The .031 is the thin veneer thickness. The cues I see with the thin black line between the colored veneers appears to be only .005 or so thick. Is...

    WTF:Deluxe Cuesmith or Metal Lathe

There are several in the Dallas area on Craigs list. They are all machine lathes from 12 x36 to 14x40. Some are single phase and some are three phase. The price range is $1600 to $2300. Look at the Jet. It would make a great cue lathe but its 3 phase which will require an additonal phase...

    Inlay designs

I have had bobcad for about 2 weeks now. I looked at splines and it looks like tracing an image may be easier than cleaning up a vector image with bobart. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the info!

    Inlay designs

computer malfunction. Other wise known a operator error! I was talking about the complex art work on the back of a playing card. There are numerous shapes that can be used for inlays in cues. Scanning the card at 4200dpi does not render an image good enough when vectorized to turn into g code...

    Inlay designs

Thanks for the responses. Tony, I was afraid that was going to be the answer for the most part. I guess I have to get better and faster at correcting the vector images or not to try to do the really intricate work.

    Inlay designs

Where can you find images that can be vectorized to use for inlays in cues. Using bobart, the scanned image has to be very good inorder to clean up the vectorized image. I can scan at 4800dpi, but the image being scaned is not good enough. What do you guys use? The looks of some of the inlays...
