    Question About Sharking

I probably would have advised him regarding the chalk but I would not have wetted it at all, or would have asked first. But if I were attempting to shark the person (something I ABSOLUTELY do not believe in doing) I might have wetted the chalk with some DOT 5 silicone brake fluid hehehehe...

    See thru CB

If they do make a clear CB it is likely polyester resin and I would quite strongly suspect it would play differently than a white, phenolic CB. Clear phenolics IIRC are not easy to manufacture (they would probably have a yellowish cast to them) but in this day and age that may have changed. If...

"Friends Of Tessa" Benefit Cue Auction ROUND 2!

This IMO is one of two viable options that have been mentioned. The second- since Soldtonight said it was OK with him to sell it outright- I am fine with that as well. There may be other, as-yet-untold options too. As Soldtonight said, do whatever you think is best for Tessa and her family...

The Bowling Alley for Playing Pool?

As a teenager I was insanely fanatical about bowling and virtually all of the bowling alleys around had tables. Closest to home was Lake City Bowl which had about three tables that were brought over by Christopher Columbus. Palladium Bowl had ten eight-footers of either Brunswick or AMF variety...

Question about cloth and table size

Outstanding advice. Much like, e.g., bowling or curling where you deal with objects and different surface personalities where your playing surface is the dominant factor, in pool the table always wins.

    Definition of "Nit"

I know one thing "nit" is not... ...it is NOT an inadvertent typo when saying "'Nite ______" to folk(s) in a pool chat room. But said typo can be most embarrassing... don't ask me how I know...

What Best Describes Your Attraction to Pool?

I honestly don't know why... ...I am attracted to pool, though it began at a very young age. I had an aunt and uncle who lived near the I-90 floating bridge in Seattle (the Lacey V. Murrow Memorial Floating Bridge to be more precise) and they had a pool table upstairs. I just fell in love with...

    Old TV Shows with Pool

I really enjoyed the "Get Smart" episode, though I did not remember Leonard Nimoy acting in it. Then again, it's probably been about 40-plus years since I've seen it...

"Friends Of Tessa" Benefit Cue Auction ROUND 2!

I'll take #42 this time, thank you.

I need your opinion on a rule variation I experienced.

I have always played that you are what you sink on the break unless you drop an equal number of each or you scratch, in which case it is open table. The only variations were WRT the 8-ball itself and/or scratching on same if you were shooting for it (e.g., MANY years ago I played against someone...

What Not to do with your pool cue

I inadvertently did this very thing several days ago, fortunately it was not that warm out and I did leave my cue in the case (for the most part). I'm usually pretty good at removing it from my vehicle but old age must be catchin' up... No harm done as far as I can tell.

    The Green Room, Edinburgh, Scotland

The menu as well as the surroundings look exquisite- but I did not find haggis anywhere on the menus, maybe I missed it. It would definitely be worth it to drop in there if I ever visit Scotland, which I may do someday since I have some Scots blood in me...

    Cloth color choice.

that will probably not happen for a while- my house is SOOOOOO full of stuff, including the future pool room, that I'd rather not post until the table is in, up and running. That's what can happen when you live alone in a large house like I do... But when it is, then I will gladly post photos...

LOL the implement that is being used to discipline Bettie looks like a file card, used for cleaning files- OUCH!

    Cloth color choice.

At this point I have permanently eliminated anything except blue or green, and am starting to lean slightly toward the tournament blue because of the advice given and my own experiences with it at the Golden Fleece. My main reason for asking whether decor was a factor for other folks in cloth...

    Cloth color choice.

Both you and Skess have a very good suggestion here, thank you for it. Personally, I'm not at all concerned about clashing colors but if/when I tie the knot with some gal it could become a factor. I'm just trying to plan ahead.

    Cloth color choice.

Wow- I knew the UV from fluorescent lighting can cause fading but that is quite substantial, CigarDave. I would think they would add UV stabilizers to their dyes but maybe they adversely affect the playability (I doubt it)... Also 'Dave- I honestly don't get down that way too often except...
