    Good all around tip

As you can tell from my avatar, I'm a fan of Talisman layered tips. I've been using and installing the Talisman Pro line for about 5 years. They hold their shape well, hold chalk well and do NOT mushroom. The Medium is a great all-around tip. I use a Soft, but I play mostly 1-Pocket. You may...

Changing shaft taper - looking for someone local...

I can't help you with the "who in NYC" part, but I charge $25 for a re-taper. Troy

Best glue to use for installing a new tip?

I seriously doubt "everyone" includes those of us doing repairs. I've been using either Duro® Gel of Locktite Quicktite® for about 6 years with zero problems. Troy

    Triangle vs. Elkmaster

Triangle tips are rated in the Med-Hard range while Elk Master tips are soft. As far as your three comparison questions, I think it would be personal choice. Elk Master will probably wear out quicker since they're so soft. Troy

Expert advice on laminated tips needed......

I prefer the softer touch for 1-Pocket. IMO it gives me more control. Troy

Expert advice on laminated tips needed......

I have been using Talisman Pro tips on my own cues and installing them on customer cues for about 4-5 years with great results. I personally prefer the Talisman Pro Soft, but I play mostly 1-Pocket. My customers prefer the Talisman Pro Medium. In all cases the tips hold their shape very well...

    A question for the users

Minor advertizing along with a meaningful post seems OK, but nothing but pure advertizing should be sent to the "Wanted/For Sale" section. Troy

    pool table question

Extending the rails is the "professional" way to go. This requires adding wood to the sub-rails at the correct angles and replacing the rail rubber. I suggest doing this when it's time to recover the table. Troy

    Stretching Simonis

Stretch it as tight as possible. All tables in the room I manage were recently done and the mechanic always does them right -- TIGHT. Troy

Which game do YOU like to see?

For me it was an easy choice... One Pocket Playing or watching, it's my game of choice simply because of the numerous options on every shot. The game of choice for thinkers IMO. Troy

    a ping in my shaft?

A "Ping in my shaft" ??? Could be a loose ferrule. Could be a loose joint collar. Could be a cracked shaft. Hard to tell without having it in hand. Troy

    What was Brunswick thinking?

The table looked to me like a standard Gold Crown. Certainly nothing special about a "super wide skirted table". Troy

    Racking In Pro Tournaments

Don't get me started on the damned SARDINE GIZMO !!! A few years ago I managed a room where the owner bought 2 of those pieces of crap and I had the "pleasure" of "training" two tables. After the "training", it was a joke to watch the balls literally fall into the craters created by said...

    Racking In Pro Tournaments

After a table has been "trained" for use with the SARDRNE GIZMO, the balls just fall into the craters made by that "training". The use of a rack becomes un-necessary. Most places have ceased using the piece of trash. Troy

    LePro Tips - Hardness?

I go through 10-15 Boxes of Le Peo tips per year between Customer Cues and House Cues. There was about a 20% trash pile until recently. The latest 5 boxes or so have been great. I think Tweeten either has a new source or better quality control. Time will tell. Troy

    LePro Tips - Hardness?

The person installing the tip should be able to tell if the Le Pro is a Medium when prep'ing the glue side. The installer also will size the tip to the ferrule, burnish & shape it all as part of installation. Troy.

    Golf on a 4-1/2-by-9!

I moved away from SLC in 1965, but I remember Farmer's Daughter from the late '50's early '60's. It wasn't far from my parent's house and was on my "triangle". After school I would take the "triangle" way home passing by a Bowling Alley (with 5 Pool tables) and/or Farmer's Daughter for more...
