I recomend joint protectors for all cues. It is the only place on the cue that has no finish. moisture can escape & be absorbed there, (in the end grain) ...JER

IBecause it takes just as much time & money to spray a JP as it does a $1000 cue , I really don't want too spend the time...

You have to take your shaft to someone who knows what they is doing. This is a simple repair & if they can't do it, then you have to find someone else. Simple as that...JER

In 27 years of cuemaking, I've never sealed anything. How is the wood going to move or dry out, if it has a sealer on it?...JER

Add a steel joint. Remove the joint screw, drill a 1/2" hole 4-5" deep Fill it with an Ebony or PVC plug. Change the screw from 5/16 x 14(or 18) & replace it with a 3/8" x 10...JER
