I’m in Raleigh NC next week and will have evenings free. What are the better pool halls worth checking out. I’m not really interested in taverns with bar boxes. A place with decent food would be a plus.

Don't forget the dehumidifier
Good start. I live in upstate NY and during the summer it gets humid. I run a dehumidifier constantly from May thru October. I ran some copper pipe behind the wall to drain the dehumidifier. Sure beats emptying it daily

Russ,
I wanted my room, in the basement, to be as bright as possible. So the walls and ceiling are a light beige. The carpet, closed loop industrial with pad, is a 7 ball color with bits of blue and beige. The walls are paneled to about 4'. The counter tops are six ball colored with a...
Don,
Irving told me himself in about 1996 that he was still a threat to run 60 on the "soft conditions". BTW, he would have been 61 at the time of the 1975 tournament.

I played in a bar league where one of the bars was a strip club. They had two dancers on the team. What was really amazing was how well those two dancers could reach for a longer shot while balancing on one leg. Something that nobody on my team could even attempt. We always looked forward to...
My GCIII has single shimmed pockets, they measure 4 5/8".
IMO, those pockets shown are insane. Except for one pocket tables like that are useless.

Tom,
If you like and believe in S.A.M. then by all means enjoy what it brings to your game. You’ve asked me if I wanted an explanation and I didn’t, at the time. I have spoken with Hal Houle a few times and believe that his system can help lots of people. I’ve read countless articles...
I used three 4' long fixtures that each has two 40-watt fluorescent bulbs. They are mounted parallel to the end rail, one in the middle of the table and one each about 2 diamonds from the end rail. Table is 9'. I use daylight bulbs.
Ron Casanzio used to regularly frequent Classic Billiards West in Rochester. I’m in there at least twice a week but personally have not seen him there in over 2 years. He is still talked about as being the best in the city in 9 ball and one pocket.
Having my own cue in hand dosen't induce any variables that I'm unfamiliar with. I'm only thinking about execution. A few years back I shattered the butt end of playing cue (314 shaft/Meucci butt) in the first set of a 9 ball tournament while breaking. I borrowed a Falcon cue from someone and...

Paul Mon---I had a hard time leaving Greenleaf and Lassiter off
I wipe my tips off on the carpet. In my own home and at any place else I happen to be. I don't have a problem with it in my home, I vacuum once a month. If I was at someone's home I would not do it, but would use a napkin.

Similar situation
Had this happen last Sunday. In the begining of a new rack I bunted a loose ball from behind the stack and it went into the side pocket. I forgot to spot it and a few innings later we both realized what happened. We left the ball down and played that rack to total 13...
