    Is this legal?

You can't discuss a shot with your teammate? I live in the sticks relative to most of you, but around here (North Dakota), every Scotch Doubles tournament I've played in allows discussion between teammates (whereas our singles tournaments don't allow coaching). I'd prefer to play by the rules...

    New Valley Table-help

local league Our league system is local-only, run by the coin-op dealers in the state. For now I just want my table to play like the bar tables do in town, which is what our leagues play on. Thanks for the help guys, based upon your comments I've got it scheduled to be recovered by the league...

    New Valley Table-help

I bought a Valley 7' table with their standard cloth. I want the table to play the same way as our league tables play, but it is much slower. Our league tables supposedly have "tournament edition" cloth, which to me is slower than simonas but it is still easy to get around the table. Is the...

    working on sighting/alignment

Getting low I prefer to be low over the cue because that is how I started out. I have noticed a few things to watch out for: 1. Your body still needs to be in the correct position relative to the cue ball. You want to have your forearm straight up and down when the c.b. is going to hit the...

    wrapless to wrapped

I don't like Irish Linen anymore I have always used Irish Linen Wraps on my Schuler Cues, but now I bought a wrapless Chuck Starkey cue and love it, and I am getting my Schuler refinished and a cork wrap. The cork wraps I have looked at feel great. Mine is being done by Rat Cues at Mueller.

Dr. Cue's 2+ kick system saved me

There are a lot of good players on here that discount systems as useful for beginners only. While I agree that if you are playing for 6-8 hours per day practicing as a pro, maybe they are. If you are practicing for 1-2 hours per day like I do (I work alot also), a system is better than...

When is a miscue a foul?

Good miscue shots Bert Kinister shows a shot in one of his tapes where he shows how to make a ball using a miscue. The cb and ob are close together (less than a chalk cube) and the shot is lined up to a pocket (hit the ob straight and it will go in). Bert miscues high right, "twisting" the...

    aiming

Learning to Aim I get the impression that a lot of people on this forum don't relate well to what a newbie is going through. A lot of responses seem like "what do you mean you don't know where to aim, aim so the ball goes in". A good player has to remember the feeling of not making balls to...

    Lines drawn on a table

If you draw straight lines on a table (corner to corner both ways for instance) do they provide a crutch that is not available if you play on another table? Said another way, if you use the lines to judge your straight in shots, does your alignment suffer if you don't have the lines. I have...

    Funny pic/gif thread...

More Problems with the Crane If the truck did tip over, it would have completely flipped over due to the outrigger. There is no way the truck would flip over half-way and then slide on the outrigger into the water. The branches in the foreground don't seem consistently there. Based upon the...

Adderrall - How it helped my game

Steroids If I needed to take drugs to meet my performance goals, I'd quit. There is a reason pro athletes are not allowed to take steroids, it is bad for them and it is cheating. You can achieve the same control/ability with practice and mental composure.

Don't miss these Joe Tucker videos about sidespin!@#

Great Videos Joe Joe After watching your videos, I practiced some "side" shots and was very surprised. I am at a point in my game where I straightened my stroke out so that I can follow the c.b. on the same line as the o.b. on a straight in shot. My summer plan was going to be working on...

    3-rail Kick On The Diamonds

I play on barboxes and am pretty descent at kicking balls. Watching Tom Rossman's DVD's and others, I've always learned that when kicking from a corner pocket 3 rails to the adjacent corner, you shoot at (through) the 3rd diamond (1st diamond past the side pocket) with running english and it...

    Sound Isolation in Pool Room

I was wondering if anybody knows the sound frequency in Hz of the c.b. hitting the o.b. at "hard" speed. A related question is has anyone had any luck keeping the sound from going through the ceiling or walls using sound dampening materials. My pool room has upstairs neighbors and I want to...
