    Bottle and numbered cubes

A friend of mine just got a pool table and it came with a bottle and numbered cubes, he wanted to know what game is played using them. I didn't have a clue. What are they used for?

    Olhausen pockets

That sounds like a lot of work to do on a new table. I guess all Olhausen tables play that way, I'll just start trying to improve my aim. Thank you for your reply.

    Olhausen pockets

About 3 weeks ago my new 9 foot Olhausen table was delivered, replacing my 8 foot Brunswick table. What a difference. The pockets are tighter and the extra length makes it more difficult to play. It seems that many more corner shots rattle out than I'm use to. I play 9 foot gold crowns in...

    Cut Shots

Cut shots, my understanding.....hence the question I also thought that outside english is used to correct for throw....but when Mike Sigal says to use inside english (about a half of tip to a whole tip) on cut shots it makes me wonder. My copy of BD is at work so I can't quote it exactly, but...

    Cut Shots

I just finished reading Mike Sigals column in BD about aiming; he says when he cuts a ball to the right he uses alittle right english and a cut to the left requires left english. Is that inside english or outside english? Why does he do that?

    Effects of draw

What effect does drawing the cue ball have on the object ball? It seems that I miss alot of shots using draw. What going on? Does draw induce throw?

    Orlando Area Pool Halls

Corner Pocket I enjoyed playing at the Corner Pocket on East Colonial Ave. in Orlando. I was down there on business for 3 days and played there each day. They have 28 Gold Crown tables in a smoking and non smoking area. All the people were really nice.

    Tall pro players

Tall players I'm not sure how tall Earl Strickland is, but I watch him practice alot and noticed that he bends his knees to get down over a shot. I've been giving it a try but I haven't been very steady.

    To Sarah, and everyone else

My practice game I break 15 balls and play straight pool. I keep track of the number of balls (and scratches) on the break and the number of balls I run. I'm new to the game so I'm just trying to pocket balls. I'm trying to work my way up to 14.1, but running 15 balls happens only rarely. My...

    To Sarah, and everyone else

I would also like to know what percentage other people get when they break. It seems to me that mine is very low. About 46% of the time I scratch or fail to pocket a ball. Do you think pros make at least 1 ball over 80% of the time (like in 8 ball)? If I can spend time on the computer, I'll...

    To Sarah, and everyone else

Break Stats I use a sledgehammer break cue and like it very much. It seems to work just fine, but what kind of results should you expect from a break? One pool book that I read said to keep a pool log, which I did. Here are the results for 1657 full rack breaks. I had more games but my...

    My current collection.

Your favorite cue? You have a wonderful collection of cues. Can you say something about how each cue hits? If you could only play with one of these cues forever, which one would it be?

Playing by the rules or bad sportmanship?

Last week during an eight ball league match on the first break of the match, I scratched. My opponent took ball in hand and placed it in the kitchen, but shot a ball from the kitchen into the corner pocket. When I realized what he was about to do (nobody was really paying attention: his team...

    Help: Predator "Lifetime" Warranty

Fix it Predator... Lifetime, means as long as you own the cue. It's BS to talk about normal wear and tear....who's to judge? There are many things much more sensitive to temperature changes than a cue stick, that have survived 100's of years such as musical instrument and furnature. Heck...

    Leather wraps

Leather wrap is great About a month or two ago I got my new cue with a leather wrap and I love it. I wasn't sure I was going to like it after reading many of the posts, after playing with it, it feels good to me. Many people wrote in and said that leather was a problem for them because of...

fisher and strickland - what shaft?

Question for Rocky I see that you took lessons from Alison Fisher and would like to know how that went. I see on her web site that she has a two day class for $1500. I'm toying with the idea of going (someday), what do you think?
