Tascarella Titlest & Jim Buss Cue Values

My playing cue has been a Jim Buss for a dozen years now. I have only good things to say about my cue and the man himself. I was lucky enough to have him take care of my cue maintenance for over a decade. I am really not much of a cue guy so talking about the hit is hard for me to describe...

    Big foot

The years that I have watched the draw the pool balls have been used to place players into the bracket. They just put all the balls into the ball return in the table and pulled one out at a time. This was done in front of everyone.

Easier way to boost the US Mosconi Cup team?

Change the format to race to 3 games instead of 5. 15 points needed to win the cup. This would favor the underdog.

    Spitting cue ball

Man I sure miss Washington Billiards..... I was lucky enough to go there around the time he won his world championship. Two dollars an hour to play on those antique tables. One of them usually had a golf game going on to sweat.

    Playing sober, can’t do it

The most compelling story about dealing with anxiety during competition to me is the Rick Ankiel story. Addiction and substance abuse had more to do with the story than most people know, the cause of the issue and a crutch used to help fight the battle. I may be bias because I live in St...

Did I make a bad call as Tournament Director?

I think that it is hard to draw the line where giving the game is acceptable or not. The situation you described is usually not an issue. When someone concedes with more than a ball on the table, the reason can be not to let your opponent get into stroke. This shouldn't be allowed. I...

    This is why Fargorate Fails...

I live in the same general area as Kyle. I have played him on occasion. I would have guessed that he was around a 600 Fargo before I read this thread and looked him up. Kyle doesn't deserve to have a hate thread about him, it should be taken down. To say that he is stealing as a 628 fargo is...

Name your superstitions... about what makes you play good or bad [for fun thread]

I use a half dollar made the year I was born to flip for the break prior to playing. I win more than my share of flips.

Is Practice on a 10’ Table Advised for Matches on a 9’ Table?

Yes, keep practicing on the 10 foot table. You gain the most when you get on the wrong side of the ball. I believe if you develop the stroke to use low inside english and go three rails for shape on a 10 ft table, when it comes up on a nine ft table it is so much easier. There are other...

I don't think new cloth is necessarily good for pro tournaments.

I met David Hodges years ago at the DCC. He is the man behind Quick Clean, a product for cleaning pool table felt. I remember him saying that multiple cleanings with his product after the new felt was installed would almost eliminate the sliding factor. The Quick Clean website currently, says...
