    Back to Pyro vs. V10?

I used Pyro for a year of so before V10. And while I think Pyro is a fine chalk, V10 is better in every way. I have had no issues like you described. I do, however, wipe my tip of chalk before returning it to the case.

    Sky and Shane Squabble

If the riff continues—assuming it happened in the first place—I doubt it would continue long. Both are reasonable, very nice guys. Sometimes ribbing can get out of hand or be misinterpreted, especially in text on social media. I expect they will resolve it before Mosconi Cup. After all, Shane is...

    Jacoby Ultra Super Pro 11.8mm

Let me start by saying, at 70 years old, I’m decidedly “old school.” I’ve been using solid maple shafts, and compensating accordingly, for over 50 years. Naturally, with all that time, my compensations are largely subconscious. And I’ve been perfectly happy doing that with my cherished Southwest...

    $$ Jeff OLNEY HOPPE " BUSHKA " Style Cue SUPER-SHARP !!!!!

I’m a believer I recently bought a simple Merry Widow Olney cue. I didn’t really need a cue because I have two Franklin South West cues that fill my playing needs. However, those cues are so prized by me and impossible to replace, I’ve been looking for a player to use at bars, etc. The SW hit...

    World 14.1 stream help

Unable to create username I would love to watch the matches. But the website won't even let me create a username. No error message. No assistance at all. I fill in the required info, hit enter, and if takes me right back to where I started. I have no idea what to do. Help, please!

A couple of 40s for your critique

Rempe is a very cerebral straight pool player and he communicates well. His instruction videos are outstanding. Also check out Accustats DVD collection. You'll find some terrific matches from the 1991 US Open at the Roosevelt Hotel, in NYC. I think the year is correct. Of particular note from...

A couple of 40s for your critique

Before I say anything else, I wanted to compliment your stance and stroke mechanics. Strikingly good! You are also a wonderful shotmaker, which is always an asset, but, in your case, quite possibly a detriment to your developing as a straight pool player because you can often shoot your way out...

Deuel draw shot 2003 Mosconi cup

That's a brilliant shot! Especially under the pressure of the Mosconi Cup. I'm not quite as amazed as I might be, however, because Larry Nevel lives close by and I get to see him play a lot. I have actually seen him draw off the rail like that up and down the table. Freaky talented. Check...

    Gulyassy player shafts

I have a few of Mike's cues and with the lasted, a sweet bocote cue, with curly maple handle and Mike's SPTX shaft. It's a terrific playing cue. The shaft surprised me a lot. I expected it to be whippy with little resonance. But the exact opposite is true. It has excellent feel and very low...

    Help,need a new tip

Onyx tip I have a Kamui S on one of my shafts. It plays nicely, but it's quite a hard tip and has a "clicky" sound. I haven't tried a Kamui SS. That might be better. The Sniper is a great soft tip. It plays like a soft tip, but feels firmer (after a week or so of break-in). The Onyx tip...

Video I took of SVB stroke

I had observed that Shane's right elbow is off plane, like many shooters. What I noticed on this video is he actually realigns his elbow to on-plane as he prepares for his final stroke. Amazing. I have never seen a player move his elbow that direction. Mostly, it goes the other way.

    Best cue for sweaty palms?

I have the same wrap and love it. It's grippy, without being at all sticky. Requires no maintenence and feels terrific. Super durable, too. As good or better, grip-wise, is a wrapless cue. Having a towel handy is good advice.

Who is the all-time, best shape player?

I can't argue with Buddy Hall. But I'm surprised no one has mentioned Mike Segal or Jim Rempe. Both outstanding position players.

Reyes vs Deuel Tomorrow ! Schmidt vs Cohen! Streamed

There are terrific match-ups today. I'm looking forward to Strickland-Barouty, at 1:30 and Appleton-Eberle at 4:30. Not many people realize Earl is a fine straight pool player. He's run over 400! His opponent, Danny Barouty, while not renouwned outside the NYC area, is a major straight pool...

Is the dominant eye important in shooting?

Eye dominance can be a factor, but it doesn't have to be. Basically, there are two ways of aiming: binocular, with chin centered over the cue (no eye dominance); dominant eye aiming. Both work fine. Allison Fisher has always been one of pool's best shot makers, and she aims with the binocular...

What Is The Most Over Rated Cue?

I'm not as familiar with Balabushka cues, but I've owned two SW cues for roughly 25 years, and I don't see myself ever parting with either. I've been playing pool for four and a half decades. I can't say how many cues I've hit over the years, but suffice to say, it's a lot. And I can say...

    Tung oiled shaft?

Tung oil is excellent! I have used tung oil successfully on many shafts. A quality tung oil will leave a clear finish that is slick and very resistant to dirt, chalk and moisture. Tung oil, as most know, is most commonly used to treat teak trim on sailboats. As for applying, be sure to clean...
