    Bringing Back Balk-Line Billiards...

I am wondering if by introducing new players to the other disciplines like Libre (free game or straight rail), Cadre (balk-line) and cushion caroms, could these other games be used to help support and grow 3-cushion in the USA? If it can be helpful, why not start organizing a few amateur...

    heated tables???

The real reason for heated tables. Regionally, it varies as to "why" the tables are heated. In Northern European countries, the tables are heated to thaw the ice off the cloth and to warm the cold-blood of the players. In Central America, South America and the Philippines the tables are...

    Balk-line markers.

For anyone who is interested in playing balkline billiards. Randy Burke who works out of Jay Orner Billiards in Indianapolis, just made me a balkline marker frame and a 7-inch Parker box template. They make marking a table extremely easy. Be sure to let him know what balkline distances you...

    Spotted Aramiths- Issue

OK, It really is more of a matter of perception... Remember folks, that even Simonis 300 is not a perfectly smooth surface. It is a woven, worsted cloth and if you watch closely you will notice any ball "settle" when it comes to a stop. The spots on the "pro-cup" Super Aramith balls are there...

    Three games for your consideration.

What about straight rail, balk-line, and cushion caroms? These are the games that new players play (and experienced players still play) in Europe. I have found that straight-rail is challenging enough for most players to master, and it is still a rarity to see someone establish and maintain a...

    An opinion again....

In general: no. But I wouldn't pay extra for an old cue unless it really is a historic collectors piece that can be resold easily. (Like an original Rambow or Balabushka) If the cue's wood isn't warped or rotten, then it shouldn't make a difference how old it is. It may not be as "bright"...

    Cues for guests - Elite??

The Elite are not a good idea. I cannot recommend them. Riley and the Cannon line from Peradon are nice for the money. Inexpensive but still good quality. You can get 1-piece house cues from Peradon and Riley as well. Might be tricky to find. I also agree that the Dufferin are a good...

Go to a local sporting goods supply and check out the different wrap grips for golf clubs and tennis rackets. It looks and sounds more like tennis wrap grips.

    balls

Yes, there is a difference... In a nutshell: TOP QUALITY: Super Aramith Tournament & Super Aramith Pro-Cup (61.5mm) Between these two sets, there is no real difference in quality, weight, material etc. These are the balls used in top level competition. The Pro-Cup have the spots. Any...

    need to heat my table

Fair enough, Mr Jewett. The 7/10 point of percussion is just an old standard of sorts. It would be interesting to find out what the true perfect nose height/ball diameter ratio is. Please let me know if you find out!
