Aiming Systems: Do you really care?

Could we perhaps have a thread category for aiming systems so the rest of us who don't give a fat, happy rat's ass can get on with garnering information of importance from the main forum?

    "Diamondized" GC III

Great job, Jack. Do you have any idea what it would cost to do this to an old Gandy Big G? I know there are some good table mechanics in the Atlanta area who could probably do this for me. I think you are a little far away from East Central Alabama. Nell Drake

Do the pros do stupid sh*t like us amateurs do???

I also watched Ralf Souquet miss the OB completely on a long extreme cut shot. I believe he actually turned green. Another time I watched a rank amateur shoot a ball, drop his elbow rather violently and knock the Diamond light fixture cover into several pieces. He responded when questioned...

Do the pros do stupid sh*t like us amateurs do???

I have seen Allison Fisher jump the CB over the OB and straight into the pocket while trying to draw the ball. Everyone is right that pros just do it less often than we amateurs do. My trick is to shoot the balls out of order...notably the 4 and the 5. My comment when my opponent points this...

Which Do You Prefer - Playing Bad and Winning or Playing Great and Losing?

I don't think anyone said they enjoyed losing. I certainly don't either. But If I had to choose playing well always gives me greater satisfaction than playing poorly and winning. Nell Drake

Which Do You Prefer - Playing Bad and Winning or Playing Great and Losing?

Oh, BasementDweller, you are singing my song. I would much rather play great and lose. Winning when you are playing poorly leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I lost last night to a player who was shooting "lights out" and I shot well when I got a chance. She was just on her A game.

    Handicap systems

The different leagues have different scales and methods for computing handicaps. I would suggest you look on the various websites for the information you want. I do know that the APA uses a system known as "The Equalizer" and is roughly based on your performance such as number of balls per...

    Physical Workout

I know now why you called them "Mother" drills, Randy. They make me crazy sometimes and so tense my neck hurts. I guess I am trying too hard. You may have noticed I tend to do that...lol Nell

    Congrats Stan Shuffett

Many instructors play extremely well but this is not necessary to be a good instructor. Many players are very accomplished but cannot teach.

    Automatic Ball Scoring

I don't know much about tables (or anything else for that matter) but I was just wondering if any of you technical people out there have ever considered putting automatic ball counters on tables that would pick up either the sound of the ball dropping or the pressure on the bottom of the pocket...

    Instructor Qualification

At the risk of offending some instructors, I believe that some people are "born" teachers and derive much pleasure from watching students acquire skills and utilize them. Again, in my not so humble opinion, no amount of instruction can create a "teacher". I recently had the privilege of...

Also, while you are in Las Vegas and have a free afternoon and a car take the east route out toward Lake Mead. The scenery is breathtaking, absolutely stunning. I have done it many times when visiting friends who live on Lake Mead and it never fails to impress me. Happy traveling! Wish I was...
