I'm from the midwest so I started out playing bar table, bar rules, 8-ball. I didn't understand 9-ball and just wanted to play the game I knew. Eventually I joined an 8-ball league (APA). Playing league I learned the importance of ball-in-hand and the absurdity of such things as call shot...

I'm confused. Is this some sort of knockout tournament or are these just individual matches for points in some sort of competition or are they just individual matches?

I completely agree with this sentiment. Not only would it be annoying but maybe even a little insulting. Putnam didn't get to play in the Mosconi Cup because of a random drawing. He got there because he's good.

I kind of like seeing the pros play on a piece of shit table. I would call that real pool. The same type of pool that we play every day. No tv lights, no refs, dirty balls, dead rails, etc. But I digress. I completely understand what you mean. I didn't call the table they played on a gaff...

I don't mean to hijack this thread and, no, I'm not trolling. But didn't they both play on the same table during that match? Isn't a race to 100 a long enough race for a professional to learn to adjust to the conditions, whatever they may be?
