Sounds like it may be another two weeks till Big Dogs opens. One inspector gave the the OK for the handicap door a second told them it wasn't good enough.

City Inspector -- a thankless job and one where you must have to be OCD.

Maybe we will be able to 'shake our shillelagh' soon at the Big Dog. Or at least that's all mine seem good for lately.

How did the Stix team tournament end up? I ducked out after we lost to the Kansas boys.

Get wrapped up on Saturday night?

Hey Matt, It was great playing your team, unfortunately we didn't do so well after lunch. It was an early trip back to Kansas for us, but had a good time. Great tournament and real good sportsmanship from what I saw. Was also wondering the outcome.

We were glad you came up - and it was great playing with you as well. Some good sportsmanship goes a long way in making a day enjoyable - win or lose.

That's too bad about after lunch -- you guys shot really well against us. Hope you make it back up if/when it happens again. Rumor was they might try to have it more than once a year.

Anyone going to Tama on March 2-4 for the amateur 8-ball at the casino?

$25 to enter and they add $25 credit to your gambling card. There's a second buy-in on Saturday but the web site doesn't list the race or tourney format.

www.DrPool.net is running the show. I've never hear of 'em. Jacoby is the main sponsor.

It has to be marketed.

If I owned one, I'd get old retired guys in to play in the morning.

In the evenings, I'm not sure.

It is such a great game, but so few know that. It is quick and easy to learn the rules, but it takes a lifetime to master. A newbie can score just once and get hooked. It reminds me of Blackjack...easy rules but complicated strategies.

Keno, for the evening crowd!

Dr. Pool runs a pretty good show I have heard. Looks like it's a free-roll? I hope they end up with a good turn out.

Talked to Cue Doctors last night and I think some of those guys are going.

I'm gonna make it a good warm-up for VNEA state. I'm playing in the old farts' 9-ball this year and intermediate singles and Open team. I need some competition to help focus my mind as it's been just a little fuzzy lately. Not sure if it's boredom or what.

I heard...

1st Place - UR Hnnds R Done From Sioux City I believe
2nd Place - Sneaky Long Des Moines team

we actually beat them the first time in 12 games - final match went to the 16th game - very close match -- From SNEAKY LONG

3rd Pl - W P

4th pl - Predators

5th/6th pl - Forfeit and Lack Luster chaulking

I think they had 20 teams, $1100 Calcutta - a pretty good start for the initial tournament. I heard they might try to have more than one a year.

FWIW

Haven't heard anything lately, but who knows.

Looks like we will have to 'shake our shillelagh' in Waterloo.

Maybe after the tournaments get finished up in April...

Pretty much had to completley redo the inside of the building. They have done a boat load of stone work along with pluming hvac and kitchen work. Also had to tear up the parking lot because of something to do with the sewer line out to the street. All in all alot of work has been done and I for one can't wait for the place to open. Plan on running up there tomorrow and see if they are any.closer.

From what I have gathered, Big Dogs was using the alcohol license from the owner of the old building and are now having problems getting one of their own for the new site. So that is their paperwork problem lol talk about a major screw up :D
