You always need to sign up as early as you can as the tourney always sells out with sometimes 50 people waiting to get in.

I take my set unless the pockets have nails sticking out, but unfortunately this seems quite common. I play a lot of 1 pocket and shoot a lot of shots pocket speed, this is disastrous when the contact point is not "clean".

in past years we have been anywhere from in the 40's to in the 80's during the tourney, so come prepared for any of that.

Its a great tourney and fills up early every year. If you want to go shopping, head to main street Waynesville and go to Twigs and Leaves art gallery and buy one (or more) of my unique wooden lamps or candle holders (shameless plug).

I am retired USAF and back in the early 70's I was on Okinawa and would go into the Airman's club and play the bar box there for whatever action I could get. A big guy and several of his friends came in and wanted to play me 9 ball for 10 a game. We usually came out about even. I knew these guys...

I used to play 1 pocket a lot and have left a few short over the years, but as a general rule I try not to attempt such a shot due to table and ball roll error. What has affected me more than short shots is excessive throw due to nicks in the balls or dirty balls.
