    My thoughts exactly.

Is this forum losing members, or losing interest?

Since you asked... This is my first post/reply in over 2 months and only my 4th in 2016. I've been visiting AZB for well over 10 years (I'm guessing) and finally became a member about 4 years ago. Up until about a year or so ago, I was practically a daily visitor to AZB... mostly in the...

what exactly makes a table play well?

On a top end table, it is my experience that it's all in how it is setup to begin with. A rushed and sloppy setup can ruin a great table's roll. Loosely stretched cloth, half-assed leveling, not squaring the rails, loose rail cloth, not examining the frame before even placing the slate down...

Lee Brett Coming to Shooters Family Billiards Wayne NJ

If I could turn back time... I had a chance to host a training lesson by Lee Brett at my house about a year and a half ago. Unfortunately I had to go out of town that weekend so I couldn't do it. In hind-site... I should have postponed my trip and hosted the session. I have also hosted a 9...

    The Billiard Channel

Sorry man, you're about a year or so late for the party. http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=380044 It's worth watching when there isn't much else on. I got tired of it a bit when it seemed that I often would have to watch the same thing that I just watched the day before... without...

Advice on buying a table for my house

Actually your 9' layout may work. The corners of the table are the most forgiving areas of the room layout when it comes to space with a 58" cue stick. What you need to do is to setup an artificial play field at 50"x100". It doesn't need to be anything more than maybe 4 tv trays (they work well)...

    Playing someone who is High

Ditto... And if this guy is tooting crank and has any kind of game at all without it... you better shoot at a 9 or 10 level if you want to keep your money. As someone else posted in this thread, if you really insist on competing against someone who you believe is on meth... your going to have to...

You Can't Run With Men if You Can't Take a Verbal Beatdown

:clapping: I haven't commented on AZB in ages. That retort was worthy of a nod. Hope all of the "circle jerks" will stay in their closet and let this thread be what it was intended. Ditto what Zphix said... "Literally LOL'ed".

    Powder idiots

Old school back in the days of the chalk cones... it was one of the things that you looked for in an easy money mark... someone who bathed themselves (and tables) in powder. I still carry a small talc bottle even though I never use it anymore unless it's really humid (just don't like shooting...

Ok I'm old but where did good luck go

I guess it all depends on the inflection of the voice on delivery. Even though I always say "good luck", a friendly handshake and mild delivery of "play well" isn't offensive to me before a match. However... I have had opponents who would say "Play Well" with an inflection to their words that...

Any way to identify Brunswick cloth???

Na... there is no way that the Brunswick felt could ever be better for me than the Simonis 860. When it is conditioned properly and cleaned regularly... the 860 has the perfect speed and reaction to my style of play. I'm not saying anything bad against the Brunswick cloth... but there's a reason...

Any way to identify Brunswick cloth???

When I bought my GC-IV table 3 years ago it was setup as a display model in a billiard store. Of course I had the original cloth replaced with Simonis 860 felt when it was setup, and I stored the display cloth away over these years in the plastic Simonis bag.. I was told that the display cloth...

AZ still running SLOW 30 sec. to 1min. change pages

I both agree and disagree with the above... I will never get used to slow bandwidth at 6:00am or 7:00am on the east coast, when that should be the fastest time of the day to be on AZB... fewer users because everyone west of me is still in bed. Most every other site out there zips at that time...

    Ditto that.

Putting stuff on the felt... WTF????

It may sound OCD... but physics has long ago proved otherwise. Coins are flat and sharp... pool balls are round and smooth. The thread fibers on a Simonis cloth are stretched pretty tight across the table in a number of directions. If the edge of a tossed quarter hits the fibers just right it...

    Dealing with Slow Players

It has usually been my experience that the slower players aren't very strong... (usually). I get very relaxed and confident in a match or money game when someone has to study the table for too long. I have been known to look around at other tables and watch what other people are doing until it...

    Vacuuming Simonis

My 860 is nearly 3 years old. I will usually give it a vacuum about once a week or after it has seen over 10 or 12 hours of serious play. I used my Rainbow on it the other day after only 10 hours of use and you would be surprised how blue the water was from chalk... my "Masters chalk" is blue...
