Steve, It is a nice cue, but I don't understand how a predator shaft is original to the cue. I currently own a Viatorre, and I like the shafts Mr. Tan made. It's what makes them hit well IMO, I'm assuming he just matched the predator shaft collar diameter to the cue joint diameter. a

Either one works, not sure why you think it's more effective. I would rather sign and date a piece of paper, than buy one. Most households don't necessarily have newspapers anymore, considering you can goggle the local news.

You could request the seller place a piece of paper, with his name and the current date next to item, to prove they are in possession of the item. It's obviously not 100% fool proof, but at least you would know they didn't screen shot it.

I had the exact same cue model, sold it for $800 5 yrs ago. That cue was $1500 new, so $600 is dirt cheap IMO, definitely would be skeptical.

You can't be a Schmelke for the money IMO. They build a solid product, many builders used there blanks for custom builds. I would also look for old McDermott D series, Hueblers, Mali's or Adams. Good look on your search, it turned into an addiction for me.

I have one, you don't see them often. I believe you don't see them for sale because people tend to hold on to them. They play above their price point IMO.
