I see on the front cover that they list the "Top Players" in the UPA event.
Shane Van Boening? I could think of 4 or 5 other names to mention on that list.

Shane will hold his own. He is one strong player. Check his placements under his profile.

I dont know how well he will do in this particular bracket though. That is a pretty tough draw!!

Very tough bracket. Shane is a good player now, and getting better all the time. He has a good attitude and works hard on his game. Great kid! He may be the best American hope for the future.

By the way, Shane needs someone in the Pool world to get behind him and sponsor him. He has a backer, so that's not what I'm talking about. I mean like a table company or cue company (even a poolroom) that will hire him as a rep. And pay him a salary. He is a great representative for our sport and deserves to have help from within the industry.

I saw SVB shooting at the IPT card qualifier in Atlanta a little over a year ago, where he got his (now nigh worthless, but that's a whole 'nother story) tour card. He's a hell of a shot. Very focused.

Some friends got a taste of his skill this past weekend at a $1k added 9-ball tournament in Fort Collins (about an hour north of Denver). One friend of mine took 2nd - and he's a good shot. "Who won?" I asked one fellow. "Some guy named Shane Von Something". My first thought was, my friend who took 2nd didn't have a chance at 1st. :D

I had a proposition shot that I had never seen anyone make. On Saturday night of the Bar Box tourney in Reno, I walked into the tourney room all drunk and threw $20 on the table in front of him and said "make this shot." He made it first try and just looked at me kind of smiling wryly. I handed him the $20 and said "OK, so he can make it, who's next?"

He is a great tourney player, but I was glad to see my buddy Dan Louie beat him.

Does anybody know Shane's old sidekick, the guy that sells the Pool Cues & accessories? He showed me some cues last year, that I want to buy.
His last name is watson or watkins... or something like that...

Hey a fellow Okie. Nice!

good player

Shane might not have won the 2006 US Open. Or even had a real high finish. But far as i am concerned he played the best 2 sets all week long.. He broke and ran 5 racks in a row on Luc Salvas. He also broke and ran a load of racks on Ramil Gallego.. Meanwhile he never missed.

i was told at a tournament in nashville that he broke and ran the last 6 racks in one set then broke and ran the first 8 in the next one.[nine ball]

Hey belmicah, I was only trying to have a good time in reno and I did remember that shot... it was hilarious....anyway, yesterday I played ronnie and he only missed one shot, the tables are kinda tricky and im not comfortable of the way it plays... but hopefully ill get used to it.....this is a very strong field and i enjoy playn this tournament... later....

Well put Randy, I couldn't agree more!

Shane not only elongs there, he is one of the nicest players in the industry. I wish more player's had his attitude and player manners, it would bring the sport up a knotch!

He Is One Of The Best Players You Will See And He Is Only Getting Beter Every Day.try And Play Him For The Cash And See How It Turns Out.

Shane is a terrific player and one of nicest young men out there in professional pool. I'm pleased to count him as a friend, and wish him the best in his pursuit towards the top. It sure would be nice to see someone in the industry step up and take him on as a sponsor. He certainly deserves it! Shane...I look forward to seeing you again the next time I'm in Souix Falls. Please give my best wishes to your granddad!:D
