It is better to own and wear your gun all the time........than own a gun and wish it was here.
Anyone can be caught off guard. It could happen to any of us. That's why environment, awareness and alertness are emphasized in defensive gun training.
As a matter of habit, I typically remove my weapon from my concealment holster when I enter my auto and place it in a position easily reached next to my seat that
is not conspicuous or requires any turning my torso. I holster my weapon before getting out of my car and in doing so, I do a 360" review of where I parked just to be
sure. A gun goes with me everywhere since I have CCW privileges for the past 25 years. It's like picking up my wallet or keys before leaving the house.
No one knows how they will react in any confrontation. Calm heads are more important than quick hands but sometimes the circumstances aren't to your liking or
there's more of them than there are of me.....a sidearm empowers you with a added sense of calmness about the situation and to act level-headed since as a CCW
holder you understand the legal responsibilities that accompany discharging your weapon and deadly force. The bottom-line is a civilian wearing a gun is intended to
be for defense purposes only. I am prepared to defend myself any time or place because it is my mission to avoid ever having to think or say...."I wish I had only wore my gun today."
In closing, deadly force or brandishing a weapon is not an act to be taken lightly or purported to be something anyone could do without even a second thought. Until you're actually
confronted with a threatening scenario to your own or family's welfare, is at serious risk, don't be too quick to judge what's the right thing or wrong thing to do or have done. Owning
a gun and legally carrying a gun is every individual's decision but if and when you do, you are assuming an enormous and onerous responsibility. It can involve life & death, perhaps your own.
