I used to front Schons to him,I would buy them by the dozens
he would sell

He would drive me around when I needed to go to the airport or catch
a late night game or ride home

One day we stopped by my mother's in oak cliff, I gave her a sack,
she knew what that meant and would never open it till i left

This started in high school with quarters and 50 cent pieces,oh but she had fun

Lately it was more like $20s and more

She fixed us lunch, potato salad ,deviled eggs, fruit cake, stuff I love to this da
and began giving me a lecture on the perils of the pool
room

"deanie, those boys are sharpies, they will let you win the small stuff and
then lower the boom"

I am sure you guys are aware of this advice. I nodded and agreed, once
in a while I would ask "how will i know when they do it"

"are you sure?' these kind of questions that allowed mom to teach me
one more time

After lunch ,I got in Davids car and he drove me home, finally he smiled
about the watching out for the sharpies part

"doesn't she know?"
he says quisikly

We smiled.

David use to drive over to Texarkana and play in our once a month 9-ball tournaments, sold a few cues while he was there , a very nice person tobe around, I liked David and everyone else at our poolroom liked him too.

" Right ….
I thought it had been a little while since DAVID passed....
I met him in Tulsa-About 16-17 years ago
I was shooting with a FANCY TIM SCRUGGS SZAMBOTI tribute cue I had just received from John Wright ….
David came to the table I was shooting at and asked,
Where did you get that cue?
I explained John Wright-
David said-
Yes-
John got it from My good friend Dean Campbell in Texas
David had family in Tulsa and would visit occasionally and bring a few cues for sale
He was ALWAYS A CLASS ACT;)
