What did you buy and how was your experience at the expo?

Well home from another expo. I have to say it was a little disappointing this year. Didn’t seem like as many vendors. There was no 9 foot tables on the floor that they had some of the tournament on for free. This is the first year I didn’t get to watch the pro’s in the arena. When I had time there was no matches worth paying for really and when there was it was standing room only. I didn’t eat at that over priced crap this year. Just a little tip to others who don’t right outside the building is a place called good times. They have go kart tracks and bowling and all kinds of stuff inside. They also have 2 restaurants in there with a bar. The food is good and reasonable and worth the 3 min. Walk to not pay $16 for chicken fingers and fries lol it’s still great to hang out with friends I don’t get to see a lot. It’s still 4 days of pool heaven and I’ll be back next year of course. Thanks to Allen Hopkins and all the people that work there for continuing this event. People may complain about the pay outs or this or that but it would still create a giant hole in the pool calendar if this event ceased to exist.

No one had the revo shaft for sale .. predator told me they only have 1 line making 5 shafts and they just can’t keep up. I saw a guy who bout a p3 for $1300 just to get the shaft and offered to sell me the butt for $500! That means he was cool paying $800 for the shaft! Still wish I would have bought that from him. It was a good deal.

As far as pool swag I didn’t buy as much this year as you can see in the pic. Not posted in the picture is my wife got a vapor glove with the green and a lights out billiards hoodie. I also got a subscription to pool and billiard magazine She did most her damage to our bank account at the king of Prussia mall and at Tory Burch paying way to much for a pocket book lol oh well..she’s happy and isn’t that what reall matter

Bought another JB case. Didn't hang in the pit as much as I would have liked. The room and layout of it was a complete shitshow. One small door to filter everyone in and out and not 8 feet from that door is one of the 4 9footers in there that were always in use with some type of action on it. It needs to go back in that front room again.

Expo was good though. Wasn't in the market for a cue this year so I just window shopped. Met up with my annual and bi-annual friends from here and the other forum. Dinner, drinks, etc. Hit the casino last night and on the way home as I type this.

The level of competition in the Amateur Open is strong as hell now. It's more of an international field now rather then just mostly east coast US. Played one of the guys that came in from Puerto Rico in my second round. I lost in the third round.

Another fun year overall... Just please put the pit back in that front room next year or over on the side in the main room like it was a couple years back. It was too damn tight in there this year.

That’s the truth. The competition is brutal . My friend made the final 32 and he had to play a straight up Canadian pro who has won the pro tour up there. Why the heck is he in the amature :(

There are at least 10 players you can say basically the same thing about in in the Amateur Open every year. Just how it is. First payout for top 64 this year was 900 bucks. What other tournament do you get 9 to 1 on your money for just cashing? That's why you see that stuff.

Just saw your pic. The reducers are awesome. I have a set. Great help for shot making.

I’m not complaining.. you get into the expo with your entry fee for free all weekend. That’s $20 a day right there. I’ve wanted to buy the reducers for years just never pulled the trigger. I sense a lot of swearing coming from my pool room in the near future lol

Bought a no frills JB 2X4 case for Straight Pool nights. I also bought a set of Cyclops balls to prepare better for next years events

It was great hanging out for a bit Friday night with the "Army" members including Icon. Had some laughs for sure.

Yeah Tony, really happy we ran into you and your wife especially at a time and place where it was conducive for us to all just sit around and BS for a while. That time with all of us hanging out and chatting and just having a good time in general was one of the highlights of the weekend.

Love meeting up with my crew.

So, the Expo was a great time as it always is. Place was PACKED and I had to drive around for a good 15 minutes before finally finding parking which I ultimately did in a dirt / rock field across the street. No worries though as it really wasn't that far of a walk and at least parking is still free which is a little surprising to me.

I took the suggestion someone on here put up about visiting the exotic jerky stand. Mmmm! Ate WAY too much jerky lol and Alligator was my fav. Speaking of alligator , I bought a real alligator head and a rabbits foot from same jerky stand. The head and the foot were $15 total. ( I spent more than that on jerky though lol !)☺.

Our Bmore boyz made a good showing with like 6 going pretty deep in the pro-am. All but 1 or 2 were out by late last night though. Steve Fleming was still in and he was hitting them goooood! Don't know how everything turned out but I hope he snaps the whole thing off.

Food & Drink --- So I was getting ready to go in the arena to watch the pros last night and decided to get some real food to take with me. I got a chili cheez dog, a bowl of seafood gumbo ( which was awesome IMO ), and a cherry coke for $12. Seems on par for events / venues like this and food was actually half decent. Drinks were expensive as to be expected. A can of beer and a small shot totalled $16. Hopefully no one went there relying on buying drinks to catch your buzz cause that will get expensive FAST!

Speaking of the pros, I met a couple of the young up and coming ladies pros and they were very very cool and we all hung out for a couple of hours. Nice as could be. The one had just lost to Karen Corr and I told her don't worry about it, you no Karen doesn't play that bad lol 😊. When I made it to the arena I tried to buy VIP seating but we're sold out. Bleachers it is. Well, bleachers are bleachers so it is what it is but the views were decent. I made my way all the way to the top so I could use the wall as a backrest. I was actually able to catch a nap up top there so it wasn't horribly uncomfortable . I went in for the 9:30 session and all 16 tables had matches going, both women and men. Saw Earl playing Alex and Earl of course had some kinda thing strapped around his torso. Couldn't really tell what it was but who knows right?

All in all real nice event. Any of the short comings folks have mentioned are easily overlooked imo for all of the good it provides. Definitely recommend anyone that hasn't went to go and I'll be looking forward to the next time!

This is the first year I went but didn't buy anything. I spent an hour or so watching the guy at the Tiger booth install a stacked leather wrap, which was pretty cool. I also spent some time at the Whitten Cases booth and I am *seriously* impressed. I will definitely be ordering one in the near future (delivery time for new orders is already out to May 2019!)

I've never been a fan of purple heart but I must say your ebony / PH is gorgeous ! In fact one of the few pH cues I've ever really liked and it's by a great maker too. Great score bro!
