He sure did. That is the bigger problem with rack you own. Orcullo does it all the time too.

Yup. I don't understand why not have the ref rack the balls if there's one at every table. This eliminates any type of disagreement or issue.

Now after 1 match today, and none yesterday, SVB gets the day off tomorrow and play resumes the 16th. A real grueling event. :speechless:

Time for a camel burger.

I don't know how you definitively prove that someone is intentionally patterning the balls. They could just say they were doing it randomly and it ended up that way; even if it's implausible, I don't know what you can do. Maybe they ought to require the two racked at the back or something. With the 3-point rule they've got to hit the balls hard anyway.

Rack your own is nonsense
Players should not be given choice at all- there are refs there and refs should rack. Period
It is a shame if allegations of pattern racking by Ignacio is true
He is one of my favorite players and he is supergood and does not need to pattern rack

Meanwhile back on table, Pole Karol S cannot seem to get to pole position against cold faced assassin Chao
Karol has been on hill for ages but cannot finish off Chao
Now 7-8 and Chao breaking to get to hill hill. Come on old assassin Chao

Those are the laziest refs I've ever seen. Probably getting good pay for sitting on their asses. Johnnyt

Last day of elimination round will be tomorrow. First session will start again at 5 am US EST (3 sessions). The pinoys started with 11 players and only Israel Rota is definitely out. They already have 5 guys in the FINAL 64:

Raymond Faraon
Carlo Biado
Dennis Orcullo
Jeffrey Ignacio
Antonio Gabica

The other 5 pinoys have to win their respective matches in order to proceed to the final 64:

Lee Van Corteza
Warren Kiamco
Oliver Medenilla
Felicilda
Johannn Chua

The match to watch out for tomorrow (5 am US EST) will be Chua vs Chang Jun Lin. The loser goes home.

I don't care for the final 64 being single elim. Too much luck in 9 ball. I don't care if you're King FN Kong, you have to get some rolls to win this. Johnnyt

Meh, when we used to play where your opponent racked the balls, everybody 'pattern racked' by placing the 2-ball in the bottom corner of the rack behind the 9-ball so that it ran safe on the end rail a large percentage of the time, and then usually put the 3-ball up in the top of the rack behind the 1-ball. This was done by literally everyone and was just accepted.

But then when players started being able to rack the balls for themselves lots of them went ahead and placed the 2 and 3-ball at the top of the rack so that they would tend to land uptable near where the 1-ball ended up, which was basically doing the same thing as before, except in reverse. The difference now was that the guy in the chair becomes defenseless if someone gets on a role and starts running some racks and, since pool players are the biggest whining crybabies in the world, they all start screaming about this and now it becomes a thing. But why was it never a thing when they were doing it for defense? And what's more, why would anyone give credence to their whining by changing the rules? Why wouldn't they just say, "Yes Mr. Whiner, your opponent is racking the balls himself and is entitled to rack them as he likes, and when it's your turn at the table you can rack them as you like too. Now sit down and if he happens to run out the set on you just show some class and go shake his hand."?

Actually I know the answer, it's because pool is pretty dumb.

True, not to mention the "luck of the draw". It is certainly advantageous to end up with an unknown opponent than one of the big boys in the early stages of the finals.

I agree it seems weird to have this long buildup just to get thrown into a massive single elimination bracket. Hopefully the races are long.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that it will be race to 11 now beginning in the final 64 and than race to 13 for the finals.

Correct.

"Final Round by the Last 64 to the Final, the competition becomes single elimination with race to 11 and 13 in the final. All matches are by the alternate break."

Really, the only thing that can go wrong with RYO with a magic rack is pattern racking. I'm sure players and refs will be looking out for it from now on.

Right, and I'm not even sure it's worth worrying about. They've got to break hard because they have to send some balls to the other side of the table, so balls are going to be flying around anyway.

Right... strange format

"so, how long you been in tourney"

"four days"

"i was out in two"
