★ world 9 ball championship ★ qatar★

wow my screen froze while mike was on the 9 and then the score shows 11-9.

Yup, he overcut it and that was all she wrote.

Mike finishes tied for 9th and reminded us that we have two players in America that can compete with the world's most elite. On the forum, most think we have just one.

Wu just nailed the 9 ball taking out Wang Can

Alcaide about to be upsetted by Polish Szew...now Alcaide down 10-8
Polish break but no shot on 1

Big shocker Dennis blew away Darren 11-2
Dennis is peaking at right time. Shane will have his hands very full :D

:sorry: All streams down and only 22 minutes to go before the start of the FINAL 8 session. Hopefully they bring it back asap. Good matches coming right up. Looking forward to see the SVB vs Orcullo match.

Watch out for Aloysius Yapp. He is the dark horse of this tournament.

EDIT: Now I can see table 1 but match has not started yet. They are just warming up.

I think there are 4 with the two Justins.

I do agree, but John Morra is also a huge dark horse... The kid is gonna snap a big event off any time soon.

Starts 630pm local time /1130am EST
57 Last 8 PIN YI (Ko) MORRA (John) Sep 17, 2015 - 18:30 13
58 Last 8 ALOISIUS (Yapp) JIA QING (Wu) Sep 17, 2015 - 18:30 12

59 Last 8 PIN CHUNG (Ko) ALCAIDE or SZEW Sep 17, 2015 - 18:30 9
60 Last 8 VAN BOENING (Shane) ORCOLLO (Dennis) Sep 17, 2015 - 18:30 1

Bracket 2
Shane vs Dennis
Baby Ko vs Szewchyk or Alcaide

Bracket 1
Big Ko vs Morra
Wu vs Yapp Aloisius

This is exactly what my screen looked like when it froze just a fraction of a second before that 9 missed the pocket. I knew the minute he hit it that it would catch the point at the very least, but I hoped for a fortuitous bobble. I was in limbo for several minutes before the stream came back and showed the 9 still sitting there... and the score now 11-9 in favor of Pin Chung. :(

Top bracket semifinal looking like Big Ko v Wu.
This will be close to call but Wu will most likely prevail since this is 9 ball

Bottom bracket
Lil Ko vs Orcullo or Shane

Orcullo vs Shane too close to call both peaking right time

:D

[...]

Szewczyk over Alcaide is not an upset: he is rated 20 points higher.

Of the last 24 matches (round of 32 and round of 16), FargoRate got 5 matches wrong. WPA rankings got 10 matches wrong.

I like your attitude. The point was really that no American other than Shane gets his due on the forum. Mike is America's second best by a country mile. I'd put Hall third for sure. I'm less certain about Bergman, but maybe.

If you have the time, what were the matches that FR picked correctly/incorrectly and what were the player ratings at the time of the match?

Szewchyk is taking his sweet time on this final rack but it looks like he's going to pull it off.

last 9 ball on the table...

Pool is such a brutal game. he made a huge comeback the prior set as well.

Alternating break is so tough. You can't keep the opponent in the chair and comebacks are rare. mike showed great heart in this event. I hope he continues to travel the world showing people his game.

SVB VS Orculo next. Dennis is is complete monster status here. He makes it look way too easy.

That is 15% error , Mike. Not good enough . Just kidding
Aim for 5% defect rate

I must say the new little pool power out of Europe may be Poland. -about half dozen in main draw and this Szewczyk is looking at thru to last 8 means he is only Euro player in last 8
This is bad bad year for Europe.
Their worst performance in long time:smile:

Stu, with this showing, dechaine should be automatic for mosconi cup team with points?

If that's after he hit the ball -- he must have jumped up a ton on that shot.

That's really a fundamental flaw in his game. Mike has a tendency to creep up on every shot. That's fine when things are rolling but every once in a while it gets the best of him.

Still played great in this tournament.
