I searched for posts that contained the following: 10.5mm

And for only those posts that had been posted by me.

The search comes back

Can the search program be upgraded?

It’s been bad for 20 years. I doubt it will ever get better. There is a way to use google to search within the forum only, but I forgot how to do it.

If you scroll down to the bottom you can see who owns/maintains the forum software, XenForo. But there is nothing wrong with it, your search term is too short. It is like searching for the word "the", the search would yield too many results, use too much resources, and be meaningless. The forum admin here could probably tweak a setting to change the minimum to 6 characters, but it is still a matter of resources.

You could go to google and do this in the search input:
site:forums.azbilliards.com 10.5mm

Maybe to search in a specific forum you can get the path in forum url and add it to the search, to search the main forum for example:
site:forums.azbilliards.com forums/main-forum.6 10.5mm

Or you could just change your search here to: 10.5mm shaft

site:forums.azbilliards.com 10.5mm
I did that and it worked great:

It found ten instances of 10.5mm at AZBilliards in any post by any poster. At least for this search, the search program erred in figuring the 10.5mm search from my posts would yield too many results, use too much resources, or be meaningless.

The software probably immediately turns the "." into a space because a dot doesn't belong in the middle of a word. It probably does that to a lot of other symbols, too. At that point it thinks you're looking for two very short words.

You have a lot of wants and challenges. My issue is I am typing in italics and not sure why. Also, my enter button now makes my keyboard disappear and I can't move my cursor to a new line and the craziest thing about the disappearing keyboard is that I'm not using a handheld. Check it out, before and after.

All this guy does is bitch about how AZ runs. Either there's not enuff space for his pics(learn to downsize nimrod) or now its how the search works. Look, if its so bad you need to contact AZ HQ directly and quit wasting that precious bandwith you love burning up with your whining.

The search feature has to have at least four-letter words to take effect. One cannot search for three-letter words.

That said, I come back to AzBilliards frequently to search for pool data and photos that have been posted in the past. This forum is actually a great pool archives. It's a gold mine for me.

--- One other thing . . . .

Search works only if you enter the complete word.

Search for my posts with titles with the word SHAFT? Search won't find the post with the title that has the word SHAFTS.

Ditto for CYNERG --- it won't find Cynergy.

My search for my posts with titles having SHAFT, or CYNERG, or both, could not find the one post:

bridge is a great game
you might try taking it up.....;)

Possibly the only way might be to update the forum software. Seeing we are using software from 2021 there is an update. Not know the financials of this site. Could be a reason why this has not been updated.

It looks like Xenforo has gone to a subscription based service at about $2700 a year.

Now you have to worry about data transfer. You are talking this is an old forum with data going back 20 years, plus you have a few thousand users. It's not going to be a smooth transition.

I’ve been on AZB since 2005 and what a mess this place is.
And if they touch NPR the cat gets it.
Without fishing reports, cooking, cars, music , I can’t make a ball.

Try cynerg* as your search term.

Search through Google and include AZBilliards
Sometimes that's the only way, but that can't do things like set poster's name or date range or title.

As a reminder, to limit Google search results to a particular web site, you need to use the "site:" flag in your search terms, such as:

site:forums.azbilliards.com cynergy
