💡💡I think $300-500 is the MOST that should be spent on a cue!!

people that criticize others for spending more than they have to spend, are really advertising their jealousy.

That's like saying nobody needs to wear Levi Jeans, when they can wear perfectly good Wranglers.

No wonder I shoot like shit. Of my 13 cues & 3 more on order, not a single one was between 300-500, fml.

Why don't you also tell us how you feel art pieces should be priced?

We don't spend more than $39.95 for art. Some of the pieces have the same images as paintings valued in the thousands, are just as colorful, and they come already framed. Our plumber even complimented us on them.

I know that there are much more expensive cues with ivory inlays, rare wood and all sorts of bells and whistles. I have shot with a few (not mine but people have let me "try it out". MY POINT IN THIS THREAD IS THAT ONCE A PLAYER HAS DEVELOPED HIS/HER SKILLS THEN ANYTHING OVER $300-500 is overkill. Basically a shortstop, a road player, a pro or whoever that shoots with a $1500 cue would not decrease in skill level if the played with a cue for less, provided that the cue is decent and STRAIGHT!!

You are really good at stating the obvious. does your $300-$500 range include only one shaft? a Predator is what $200-$250 per shaft and you know some people can't play with out one. Many players like to have two shafts so by your math that would mean that a player may be reduced to playing with just the shafts or if they can find a sale they could play with a $100 butt and two predator shafts. Seems Like you have it figured out.

I have a different philosophy, if people have the money, it's none of my business how much they spend on a cue or anything else.

If cue makers can get $100,000 for a cue then let them. Thank you for taking the time to voice your opinion on this critical issue in pool and Merry Christmas :)

This is another boring sequel to the movie "The Jealous Pool Player".

Unfortunately, the script is badly in need of a rewrite because the storyline is repeated everytime someone posts one of these threads.

Post #39 : 05Carbon wrote "Who is Les Kimber? I think You mixed Les Baer with Kimber there."

I am an expert with guns starting in 1958 shooting a Springfield '03 1A & M1 Garand which was
was my introduction to guns.....then Walther Luger & P38 & 1911 .45 cal.......all,before I turned
14 years old. My step dad returned home from Europe WWII......he was a Sgt. 101st Airborne.

Ever since I've expanded my interest and knowledge in guns and obviously own a few if you've
seen the photos on Az. I typed too fast and meant to write Les Baer, Kimber, etc. I am surprised
you didn't know about Kimber Firearms ............http://www.kimberamerica.com. I'm limited to CA
compliant weapons and with the new CA gun law adopted, have had to get rid of a few weapons.

I don't get why people need 2 shafts... You don't need 2 shafts to play the game.
Based on what OP is saying, I highly doubt he means that you need 2 shafts to play.
You can get a good cue wih predator shaft for $400 and you can spend the remaining $100 on a break cue.

The second part of your comment, I can't argue with. I think that's a healthy philosophy you have, and I agree with you.

The two shaft goes back to when a lot of players were on the road. If you lost a tip in some s^*thole town with no cue repair you'd have a back-up shaft. Still a good idea if you travel to play.

I carry two of the exact same shafts with the same tips for my player. If I lose a tip on one shaft during a money game or tournament I simply use my extra shaft. That's why you carry an extra shaft.

Never happened to me yet...
I think that if you take care of your tip you shouldn't have a problem or frear that you could "lose" it... When it's time to change it do it to a reputable repairman and you are good to go. I don't think that you should spend $200-300 on an extra shaft that you have realistic chances of never playing with, because nothing went wrong with your tip...
I can understand it tho maybe if you play big money games, and you wan't to be 1000000% sure you are covered...

I can kind of see the point of the OP. Look how well Shane plays with a Cuetec. If a cue plays well, who cares how much it costs?

Get a grip troll. It's the arrow not the Indian broham:groucho:

I liked Dean's response. Very well said. That is the way I feel.

Merry Christmas,
