1 Pocket World Championships, update...

John Barton said:
Nah Joey, I don't have such a high sense of morals that I care if Randy uses money gained through military sales that came about because of the "war" in Iraq. Money flows where it will. Trudeau's money came from sales of repackaged quackery and conspiracy theory.

I just find it totally hypocritical that Randy Goldwater vilifies Trudeau while holding himself up as some kind pool saint.

Don't get involved then. Don't worry Joey, the forum can take it. Randy isn't worried about little people like me. After all I am on the famous Randy Goldwater ignore list. That's like a badge of honor.

Let's recap though, now Randy is going to put on a tournament called the World Championship of One Pocket and the players are to be determined by application. Sound familiar?

Well fine. That's better than how Randy started out. At least NOW there is no legitimate excuse to exclude Grady Matthews and it's up to Grady to submit an application if he wishes to play. Although personally I find that Randy and Dragon Promotions should have a much easier time to fill the roster of qualified players for the One Pocket event than the 14.1 event. All the best players are known and there is no need to have an application system.

It's just another way to thumb his nose at the pool world. Period.

John, since you won't reveal your sources for Randy Goldwater's "blood money", I have to assume you read the Seybert article just like I did. (for those who wish to read it)

If I read it correctly, Randy insinuated that he and his company were building Military trailer generator sets for MOBILE HOSPITALS. I would think that type of equipment would be used for saving our soldiers lives when they are injured or in need of health care while serving in the military. I don't know much more about his FORMER company than that. If you know more you should post it up. I have defended you in the past because I believe that a person should speak up for what they believe in and you have never been one to hold his tongue and I respect you passion but you should be willing to back up your talk.

FTR once more (andprobably over and out) I think hosting a World Championship ANY DISCIPLINE is OK providing it is either an INVITATIONAL or an OPEN.

To deny Grady or any other player the opportunity to compete in a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP OPEN, something that he has been such an important part of, is morally wrong.

To deny Grady or any other player the opportunity to compete in a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP INVITATIONAL is a right of the sponsor and promoter.

But you see, this is America and while I might disagree with what an OPEN is and what an INVITATIONAL is, I won't personally attack another man for wanting to have it his way.

While you may disagree with Randy's policies about pool tournament promotion and may voice your opinions here on AZ to its shrillest pitch, you don't have the right to be vindictive and leash relentless PERSONAL attacks upon him, day after day, accusing him of earning his wealth through "blood money" unless you know something different. That term is a viscious term and your insinuations about his character are unsubstantiated. His behavior on this forum has been typical of most members who wish to voice their opinions and agenda.

No one deserves the personal attacks that you have made simply because you disagree with their style of hosting tournaments.

My opinion and $.02 still won't buy me a cup of coffee. :)

Sincerely,

JoeyA

I didn't read any Seybert's article. Everything I know of Randy has come from Randy himself on AZ Billiards.

Listen Joey I respect you so I refuse to argue with you. Randy is a __________ (insert whatever comes to mind) He has proven it many times over on this board. I don't care what you think of his rights. He didn't think to much of being civil when he started in with the insults - and yes he did start for the record.

As far as the "blood money" comment goes, that is EXACTLY what it is. Randy profited immensely off of the need for the products he produced. He didn't sell them at cost, he took a huge profit off of the United States taxpayers as a direct result of our involvement in a foreign war. He didn't patriotically lower the cost burden to all of us, instead he, like any other profiteer in wartime, charged the limit and hit the jackpot. Now I don't have a problem with that because it's a free market. EXCEPT when one cloaks themselves in the flag as Randy has done and paints themselves as some sort of philanthropist. Then I take issue with it.

If you want to be fair then use the search function and UPBRAID Mr. Goldwater for his insults to me and many others. Otherwise please stop trying to be my mother.

And to keep this on topic - I don't care what a man does with a tournament he hosts as long as it's according to the title. When a man buys a title - "because he can" and disrespects it as was done with the WPA sanctioned 14.1 "World Championship" then I take exception to it. It doesn't matter if it's someone like Randy Goldwater, or Barry Behrman, or Barry Hearn. They are all subject to criticism.

At least Trudeau had the stones to openly defy the WPA instead of "buying them off" as Randy is doing. It is so freaking obvious to me and others that he gives a rat's ass for the World Championship of One Pocket. He is only doing it to needle Grady and that is the ONLY reason.

But perhaps in doing so a great event might actually come to fruition. If so then great. But I don't need to lick Randy's boots or swing from his nuts because he is throwing a few thousand of my tax dollars to hungry pool players.

I dare him to be REALLY ALTRUISTIC and start the player's association that he said he was going to do. Why not put 5 million in a trust account and let the association use the interest to fund the administration for the first few years?

Why not start a true tour?

Don't come here and give us BS about how great you are and how you donate money with no expectation of return.

Like Carmen said, "you want to give us money, then give us real money, not this nickle and dime shit, it's our money anyway." So quit hustling us Randy and step up your game.

John, I'm glad you don't want to argue with me. :)

It isn't likely that your "personal" insults and woofing are going to persuade Randy to do ANYTHING that you want him to do. :D

It is far more likely that he will be doing the opposite of anything you might suggest, unfortunately. :(

I'm done here.

John,
Where it's no secret that you and I don't get along...I can't bite my tongue anymore.

I'm slow so please allow me to wrap my head around this. You dislike Randy because:
1. Blood Money (I'm assuming you mean his families wealth).
2. He does business with the government for a profit. Like everyone else.
3. He has the financial ability to sponsor a tourney.
4. He won't throw a bunch of money at players so they can get their poop in a pile? Who else is?

You defend KT because:
1. He had the stones to lie
2. He told the WPA to kiss off so he didn't half to pay fees and could hype his events by calling them World Championship this and that.
3. He got his money by defrauding people without hope. Got Cancer. Eat herbs not Chemotherapy.
4. He got his start via Credit Card fraud not inheritance.

Let the man have his event if he likes. Then judge him.

No. I dislike him because he is a hypocrite about it.

I am only saying that IF he is going to be the altrusitic, "for the love of the game" benefactor that he likes to tell us that he is then he should step up and do something really worthwhile. Something he promised to do and has not followed through on.

You defend KT because:
1. He had the stones to lie

No. Where did I say that. Nick, it's okay if you want to unleash your tongue but please try and stick to facts.

2. He told the WPA to kiss off so he didn't half to pay fees and could hype his events by calling them World Championship this and that.

And none of his World Championships will EVER be part of the WPA or BCA record. Everyone agrees that KT had the RIGHT to call his tournaments what he wanted but that they would not be recognized as WPA Worlds. Still though, KT's events had far more credibility, at least he honored the veterans of the game with inclusion.

3. He got his money by defrauding people without hope. Got Cancer. Eat herbs not Chemotherapy.

I am sorry but when does HOPE stop? Also where does personal responsibility fit in here? Any person alive can quickly find out about Kevin Trudeau. I don't see you out there crusading against every nonsense book on diets, health, and get-rich-quick schemes out there. Give me a break. Don't be a hypocrite and don't be naive.. You need to STOP watching pool or enjoying ANYTHING about top level pool if you think all the money that supports it is squeaky clean.

4. He got his start via Credit Card fraud not inheritance.

What does this have to do with anything? If I remember correctly Trudeau ALSO went to PRISON for it as well. And in PRISON, that wonderful world of CORRECTION, he met a man who was taught him how to really swindle. So what? We have been down this road before Nick. Before you start in on who is the worse criminal you should think about it. At least Trudeau openly funneled several million into pool player's hands. Sure he gambled and hoped for a big payoff - and he lost. But in the meantime many players benefited from it so on net it's either even or a slight win for the pool world. I have NO DOUBT that Trudeau shook things up for the better and showed what could be and what the world is not ready for yet. In that sense he did far more than Randy Goldwater has done or is likely to ever do.

Let the man have his event if he likes. Then judge him.

I did. I am. And I will.

joeyA,

Your post here have been both reasonable and thoughtful. With that in mind, I think you deserve a reply. I'm not here to defend myself, nor am I here to argue with someone who could never possibly relate to me as his life has been steeped in failure and mine has clearly not. Jb and i are opposites, more than measured in success/failure, but politically too. The worst name i can think of in the english language is liberal. The hatred it conjures up in my physical constitution is limitless. Jb opitimizes the bleeding heart variety. On the other hand, i am a neo conservative fascist, and extremist of the right.

That being said, the wealth i have accumulated in my lifetime has been earned honestly and legally. Before i got involved with my fsmily business, i was already in the top 1% in income in the country. All self made.

My mother and stepfather owned a small business which catered to the military, for many years before 9/11. After our country was attacked, they were approached about increasing production from 6 units a year, to several hundred. I stepped in and invested over a million dollars of my own mpney to relocate the company out of state and to a larger facility. I assumed all the risk. Profiteers, imo, raise their prices during a crisis. Anyone who has dealt with the military knows that they set the price. Our company, in the many years of contracts with the department of defense, never raised prices, even after 9/11. We were fortunate in that within a few years, we were offered a handsome amount from a famed buy out firm.

As far as pool is concerned, it is a hobby for me. I give throughout the year, similar to how i give to charity. Pool is something i would never invest any substantial amount of money because the sport has people like jb involved in it. If sterling would fire him, perhaps i would do more. Lol. Truth is, it is people like him that drive away patrons of the game.

In the end, i sign off from this forum and i live a life only some people dare to dream of. My mind is clear, and ive lived my life until now with very, very few regrets. I have no time for bitter, jealous people who are mired in sub mediocrity.

However, I think that this type of comment is what turns people off to you.

Nobody really cares that you live a life that "some people dare dream of."

Thanks for reminding me about class distinction in America
and for some of the reasons why I dislike rich, neo-con,
fascist, extremist, right wingers so much.
Of course, if I was a brilliant, self-made millionaire like you
I might think just like you.
Let them eat cake & go fight our wars for us, right, brother?

Thank you for the reply. I probably would not have replied if I were you but thanks, nevertheless.

It appears that you have the ability to torque jb's hot buttons like no other member. There does seem to be some severe bitterness between the two of you and I had hoped that perhaps the both of you could find a way to express your dislike for each other in another forum, one that is more inclined to perpetuate and bless the debasing of their fellow human beings.

It appears that you are not without capable defense mechanisms and are quite able to torque john's hot buttons so I will leave you and John to whatever the two of you choose to do.

However, I think both of you could honor the AZ Main Forum by not responding to either's post regardless of its content.

It is apparent that you have earned your wealth and it does not appear to be BM as John reported. It seems that you have invested your income wisely to earn your wealth and have been very fortunate as well. I am happy for you.

Have a good life.

No class distinction here, hondo. I live my life sharing and caring for people from all walks of life. I have never forgotten my humble beginnings. Instead of toys, I played with clothespins as a small child. All of my comments were directed at john Barton. Even though I have him on ignore, unfortunately I can still read his nonsense when quoted by other forum members.

i learned at a young age that just because u are better than someone or have more money than them, it doesn't make u any better than they are, everyone is equal in my book, you may be rich but all that makes u is a rich a$$hole, u get off on pulling strings and making yourself feel like u are really important when in the scheme of things you're not, instead of adding on to the problems the pool world faces why don't u try your hand in politics, i think u were born for it

but on another note i can't wait to see a world 1 pocket championship with all your buddies from the upa in the field, and i hope u disgrace the charts with your name again to show us all how important you're not lmao

Of course you are here to defend yourself. What do you think you are doing? And you can't argue with me because despite your "wealth" you can't buy intelligence. Steeped in failure? Lovely. If success means being like you than I am a happy failure.

Fascist is entirely correct. May I ask where you were when Katrina hit? I was in a van stocked with food helping our dealer and anyone else we could while we were there. What did you do?

That being said, the wealth i have accumulated in my lifetime has been earned honestly and legally. Before i got involved with my fsmily business, i was already in the top 1% in income in the country. All self made.

Oh, if the walls could talk I bet they would reveal a few little secrets that skirt the "honestly and legally" statement. I have been around many many many millionaires in my life and all of them have "bent" the law on occassion to achieve their goals. I doubt that you are any different, and probably worse, going by your holier than thou attitude.

Our company, in the many years of contracts with the department of defense, never raised prices, even after 9/11. We were fortunate in that within a few years, we were offered a handsome amount from a famed buy out firm.

Ok. I will take back the "blood money" comment. You just were fortunate that 9/11 put your company in a position to be purchased for a "handsome" amount. How much of that profit did you donate to the courageous heroes of 911 to help them offset their medical expenses?

As far as pool is concerned, it is a hobby for me. I give throughout the year, similar to how i give to charity. Pool is something i would never invest any substantial amount of money because the sport has people like jb involved in it. If sterling would fire him, perhaps i would do more. Lol. Truth is, it is people like him that drive away patrons of the game.

If "Sterling would fire him" - smooth Randy. Way to play on Joey's words. You move with the best of them for sure. If your pool skills were commensurate with your BS skills then you'd have an automatic invite to the World One Pocket Invitational Ego-Trip Tournament. Sterling might entertain offers so you could buy the company and fire me. Call up Scott Taylor at 877-283-7444 and ask him. I am sure he would be glad to fire me if you will sign a contract and transfer the money. Hell if you'll put your money where your mouth is and put a good number on "do more" then I will fire myself. No Randy people like me do not drive away patrons. Over the last fifteen years I have put more money into pool than you have and done more on more levels. All without the ego trip and the vanity fair.

In the end, i sign off from this forum and i live a life only some people dare to dream of. My mind is clear, and ive lived my life until now with very, very few regrets. I have no time for bitter, jealous people who are mired in sub mediocrity.Rg

Then why are you here? Obviously you are spending time on us sub-mediocre failures. We don't dare to dream of your life, that's right. I couldn't begin to imagine what you see when you look in the mirror. If it's half as _____________ as what you present here then you will need all of your money to try and escape yourself.

Why don't you simply do your tournaments without the drama of interacting with the "little, scared to dream, people"? No, you need validation Randy. You need to be crowned king. Because you were trumped by someone with far more moxie than you could ever possess and you didn't like it. Oh to be eclipsed by one such as Trudeau must have burned you to the core. Of course this is all just amateur psychological speculation, but I bet it's pretty close to the truth.

Why would I bet with you? You still owe me from the last bet you lost.

But since you obviously have invented some new form of math could you please point out how Trudeau took in more from qualifiers than he paid out to date? We would all like to see those numbers.

I am not saying Trudeau is better than Goldwater. To my mind Goldwater is Trudeau lite. But Goldwater is smart enough to know that he can achieve the same sort of worship without going broke to do it.

You don't know that Trudeau has the means - like the rest of us you don't know jack about Trudeau's finances and whether he is on the brink of bankruptcy or whether he could buy and throw away ten IPT style tours.

We all know Trudeau was a huckster - but he did DO SOMETHING concrete and he DID put on super ultra professional events unlike anything the world has seen. And he did in fact pay out more money to more professional players in a short amount of time than a lot of other promoters did over a much longer time span.

But this is not about Trudeau, it's about Goldwater and his ego. Goldwater can do what he wants to like Trudeau could because the pool world is in such sad shape that it can't stand up to anyone.

So a Trudeau can have a tour and get all the players because no association is strong enough to stop their players from playing. Goldwater can get a tournament sanctioned as a "World Championship" and then adjust the rules and participation as he sees fit. And we all just lap it up and in the same breath lament the sorry state pool is in.

Pool doesn't need Randy's charity. It needs to stand on it's own and dictate to the Randy Goldwater's of the world rather than be dictated to. That will never happen as long as individuals can stage events as they wish simply because "they can".

Anyway, like me or not, I'm an honest and genuine person. Historically I know its never a good idea to discuss politics or religion outside of ones home. I made the exception here to shed light on jb's dislike for me.

Which misrepesentations would those be? Don't restrain yourself Randy - bring it on. I am sure you have some high priced attorneys who would love to bill some hours going after me.

I would relish a legal fight with you. Go for it. You will find yourself on the short end of it and a lot of money wasted.

Just remember honey, everything you have said is a matter of record as well. So be sure to hand your lawyer all of that before it ends up costing you more.

Or perhaps you will threaten Mike Howerton in private and try and bully him into banning me so your little problem will go away. IF that happens then I will indeed go away and you will have one less thorn in your side. Because contrary to your belief, you are not important enough for me to worry about. If, in the context of this forum, I find your comment disagreeable then I will indeed disagree. Outside of this forum I have only interacted with your interests in one regard. As promised I sent an email to the WPA asking them not to allow you sanction a tournament labeled as the World Championships of One Pocket unless you provided a better way to be inclusive of those who deserve to participate that is commensurate with the title being played for.

And don't flatter yourself that I follow you around. I only respond when I happen to read a thread where you make a ridiculous or erroneous comment. And it's not to correct you, but for the other readers lest they believe your word is gospel.

Oh my god. I am so teary eyed now. From clothespins to a life we don't dare dream of. Oprah is calling - get the phone.

You could start telling people that you will put them on ignore if they quote me. I am sure you will get some compliance.

Your completely delusional. You would not except my bet when I insisted that KT would have to be at the helm and they would execute two years of tourneys they promised. It's didn't even take that long. I kept the PM's for just such a revisionist statement. I offered you 5:1 on your money. You didn't bite. I offered to come meet you if I lost and go double on any game you choice. Your court. Your game. You passed. Your a keyboard warrior.

Before you stand on your soapbox supporting KT's events...maybe you should do some research. Did the Hotels get paid in full? What about the other contractors? This from the guy how was still holding qualifiers after the whole thing melted into ashes.

What's the matter? Could you be a little envious of RG's success. If you did good during Katrina then you should keep it to yourself and be happy that you were able to do good for people who needed it. What if the man wrote a check for a million and you couldn't. Does it make him better?

No Joey, Randy isn't even close to being able to push my buttons. That distinction belongs to Jimbo above everyone else. Jimbo gives Randy the rainbow and the breaks in that department and is stone cold stealing. And you know what, I respect Jimbo millions of times more than Goldwater.

We don't need to get into a discussion about debasing fellow humans. Not after we talked about the whether it is appropriate to kill them for being within a few hundred feet of suspected terrorists.

If Jimbo were here he would tear Goldwater apart for some of the things Goldwater has said. You know it and I know it.

There is no chance that we will go to another forum and "fight" because Randy doesn't play well. He likes to insult and then place people on ignore. This way he can fantasize that he is insulated from criticism.

He isn't. If he does good things he will be duly praised by me. As I have done. If does crappy things then, as Jay Helfert pointed out, he will be called on it in this most democratic of places. That is IF I happen to be paying attention to him. If not then I am sure someone else will call him out.

It was one year. And when the year mark came up and KT was still at the helm and the tour was still going - you were no where to be found.

Post the PM's including yours and we can see who is right.

I don't envy Goldwater in the least. Nor do I enshrine Trudeau. Whether the hotels got paid or not does NOT CHANGE the fact that Trudeau paid out MORE to PLAYERS than he took in during the IPT adventure.

How much money was actually PAID to the players? How much money was taken in from the players, including qualifier participants? All the rest is ugly, the dreams dashed, the expenses incurred, broken promises. But the money was real while it lasted.

I know you want to make this about KT. I only use KT in comparison to Goldwater because Goldwater is showing the same sort of "because I can" bullying tactics that KT employed. Pot, Kettle, Black.

Nick, you can't win against me. You cried when I beat you online and you would cry if I beat you in real life. You're right I am a keyboard warrior and I win the battle of the keyboard against you every time you try and step up. Perhaps you should bite your tongue more, it would hurt less.
