John Barton said:Nah Joey, I don't have such a high sense of morals that I care if Randy uses money gained through military sales that came about because of the "war" in Iraq. Money flows where it will. Trudeau's money came from sales of repackaged quackery and conspiracy theory.
I just find it totally hypocritical that Randy Goldwater vilifies Trudeau while holding himself up as some kind pool saint.
Don't get involved then. Don't worry Joey, the forum can take it. Randy isn't worried about little people like me. After all I am on the famous Randy Goldwater ignore list. That's like a badge of honor.
Let's recap though, now Randy is going to put on a tournament called the World Championship of One Pocket and the players are to be determined by application. Sound familiar?
Well fine. That's better than how Randy started out. At least NOW there is no legitimate excuse to exclude Grady Matthews and it's up to Grady to submit an application if he wishes to play. Although personally I find that Randy and Dragon Promotions should have a much easier time to fill the roster of qualified players for the One Pocket event than the 14.1 event. All the best players are known and there is no need to have an application system.
It's just another way to thumb his nose at the pool world. Period.
John, since you won't reveal your sources for Randy Goldwater's "blood money", I have to assume you read the Seybert article just like I did. (for those who wish to read it)
If I read it correctly, Randy insinuated that he and his company were building Military trailer generator sets for MOBILE HOSPITALS. I would think that type of equipment would be used for saving our soldiers lives when they are injured or in need of health care while serving in the military. I don't know much more about his FORMER company than that. If you know more you should post it up. I have defended you in the past because I believe that a person should speak up for what they believe in and you have never been one to hold his tongue and I respect you passion but you should be willing to back up your talk.
FTR once more (andprobably over and out) I think hosting a World Championship ANY DISCIPLINE is OK providing it is either an INVITATIONAL or an OPEN.
To deny Grady or any other player the opportunity to compete in a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP OPEN, something that he has been such an important part of, is morally wrong.
To deny Grady or any other player the opportunity to compete in a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP INVITATIONAL is a right of the sponsor and promoter.
But you see, this is America and while I might disagree with what an OPEN is and what an INVITATIONAL is, I won't personally attack another man for wanting to have it his way.
While you may disagree with Randy's policies about pool tournament promotion and may voice your opinions here on AZ to its shrillest pitch, you don't have the right to be vindictive and leash relentless PERSONAL attacks upon him, day after day, accusing him of earning his wealth through "blood money" unless you know something different. That term is a viscious term and your insinuations about his character are unsubstantiated. His behavior on this forum has been typical of most members who wish to voice their opinions and agenda.
No one deserves the personal attacks that you have made simply because you disagree with their style of hosting tournaments.
My opinion and $.02 still won't buy me a cup of coffee.
Sincerely,
JoeyA
