OMG - I have written 1000 posts on this forum... I remember 1 year ago, when I saw people on here with 1000 + posts and I was thinking: "Don't they have a life?". Now I have become one of them... :)

I have seen some other people posting when they have reached 1000 posts, and thought I should give it a try to :)

First of all, I have especially 5 things I would like to mention, and that have really made me an addict to this forum.

1. IPT - IPT was the mainreason I joined this forum, and during the first 6 months I guess that 95 % of my posts were made in the IPT-section.

2. JAM's trip to North Atlantic Open, describing her "roadtrip" with my hero McCready to the first big IPT tournament, with a lot of pictures and daily reports. Wonderful

3. The Purdman/John Schmidt partnership during US Open. WOW!!!

4. Jay Helfert's thread "Your man in Manila", which actually became on of the reasons why I decided to go to Manila myself in February. And man, I will never forget that trip. I owe you big time, Jay! :D

5. Smorgass Bored's daily posts, which almost always make me laugh.


When I first joined this forum I was in my 5th year of playing pool, I owned a poolhall, was viceprecident in the Norwegian Federation, promotor for big tournaments and all my time was spent on pool. Most of the time promoting pool and help younger players.

During this year I have organized big tournaments, got national championships broadcasted on TV 2 years in a row now, got a LOT of mediainterest for my poolhall and events held there, especially The Norwegian 9-ball Challenge 2006. I have travelled around Europe, played Eurotours and other tournaments, and also been on 3 European Championships both as coach/fan.

A couple of months ago I reached the point where I got fed up of helping other poolplayers and the poolcommunity, because there is so little in return, both of money and encouragment and kind words from the people you are trying to help. Sad but true, most poolplayers are very egoistic and prefer to complain than contribute.

I withdrew from the Federation Board, I sold my stocks in the poolhall and I have started on a new poollife where my only interest is progress in my own game. I use AZBilliards a lot for tips & advice, and especially about reading roadstories and stories from the good old days which give me inspariton and motivation for further practise ;)

I am still very interested in threads that consist of ideas that can help the sport become more popular, so guess I might do something for the poolcommunity once again in the future. :cool:

Anyway, these were my thoughts after 1000 posts :)

By the way, I have met several of you fellow posters in person, and I haven't met one that I didn't like. Can't wait to meet the rest of you :D Also thanks a lot for all the green dots I have got from you people!

Congratulations, Roy, on reaching this milestone.

The forum is truly an amazing place, and I think it's because of the wide variety of experience of the members. Here on the forum we've got a) table manufacturers, b) cue manufacturers, c) pool industry leaders, d) poolroom proprietors, e) tournament directors, f) pro players, g) aspiring pro players, h) serious amateur players, i) action players, j) stakehorses, k) league players, l) bar players, m) event organizers and promoters, n) instructors and other serious game theorists, o) people looking for pool instruction, p) pool journalists, q) pool commentators, r) girlfriends, wives, and even mothers of pro players, s) pool rules gurus, t) pool physicists, u) pool historians and nostalgists, v) pool benefactors and sponsors, w) international pool advocates, x) gurus of the American pool scene, y) gurus of the European pool scene, and, finally, as I'll have used the entire alphabet, z) gurus of the Asian pool scene.

Post on anything having to do with pool and you'll find people to chat with on this forum, which makes AZB a truly remarkable place.

Yup AZ is a great place. But do we thank the creators of the AZ who know whats happening.

Or the guy that "invented" the information superhighway(thats a joke).

The AZ forum is loaded with top players from all aspects of the game, from management to talent. Its awesome.

I now have a new goal in life:

reach 1000 posts in the AZBilliards forum!!! (and maybe pick up a couple more little green dots)

Well done Roy, keep up the practice and I'm sure you'll do well. You might even reach 2000 hehe :p

Don't worry if you hang around long enough I'm sure somebody will get jealous of your life or something you do and start attacking you too!

Yes,

this place is addictive, especially for a Poolaholic .... LOL

All you have to do is post a little everyday, or have someone on here
irritate you, and before you know, you have a post count like mine ... :rolleyes:
 
I notice that I have slipped past 1,000 posts myself. I may go several days without posting anything, but I check the forums here every day. You realize how dependent you are on AZ when it goes down for a few hours!
