I hope that you all enjoy watching it. I could of not done it with out the help here of all the 14.1 Forum players that post great comments. My game has really improved with the help of this Forum. My thanks to all.

I had ran 20 balls, made a nice clean shot on the 19th ball and sent the cue ball into the remaining rack that was stuck together. Broke it up nicely. Turned out, I had no shot any where. I would of had a shot but the 20th ball fell in the corner pocket and I was dead. I played a shot that I had a 0% chance of making and missed. I then ran the last 8 balls to set up for a break shot. That was the start of the run. The run ended on a missed shot, there was a cluster of balls by a rail that were just laying bad during the rack. I attempted to break them up earlier but position was an inch off each time setting up for a break out. I knew that cluster was going to get me (negative thinking) Sure enough, it ended my run. I was not sure how many balls that I had made. I knew that I was near 100.
Turned out to be 105.

Very Nice Shooting Mr Grasso !!!

i see you have adopted the Marop method of talking yourself through problems. and it is godd that you take little breather breaks from time to time.
i am not going to give you the old Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda....Just Great Shootin.

i couldnt make it out to the pool hall this weekend to get some practice footage, my shoulder is killing me....gonna head out to the chiropractor this week, so i can get back to the tables by the end of the week.

Keep It Up Kid !

Thanks. Good to see you back here on the 14.1 Forum.
Yes, I have been busy while you were running around Vegas having a
great time & meeting players like John.
Hey, I had a 105 ball run two days prior to this 105 ball run but my old video recorder ran out to the end of the recording tape and had stopped. I did not get the last 30 some balls recorded...... I was sick.
Then two days later, I ran this 105 ball run. I have not played any pool since I ran the 105. I have been working out side on the property and I think I needed a break from playing. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
This run is very important to me b/c my mentor (Leroy Kinman) a very well know 14.1 player and the only player who ever won the National College Championship three times. Leroy, who is 81 yrs old. I started out with lessons from him 25 years ago and our friendship has grown into a father/son relationship.
He is unable to play pool any more for a few yrs now and when I did play with him. I believe the best I ever did was 37 in a row. This Friday, I am taking him to lunch with another friend. I am going to give him a copy of the run on a DVD. I know he will be proud of me.
Not only did I want this run for myself and to post here on AZ but it was for him too. It means a lot.

Way to go Mike. Two runs over 100 in less than a week is mighty strong. The way you play I knew it wouldn't take you long to get that 100 on video.

Playing pool in pajamas!!!

I can't imagine how many balls i might run if i were THAT comfy.

Nice run!

Congrats Mike!!!

I have regretfully been away from this forum for awhile now and it seems I am missing you guys hitting some milestones. Unfortunately straight pool has taken a back seat at the moment because I am really working hard on my fundamentals right now. I discovered I have a chicken wing that i got to get rid of, also I am trying to make sure that my fundamentals are rock solid because I have a week long lesson with Bert Kinister in July. Although I am not playing alot, just shooting drills, I have every bit of confidence that my game is going to improve alot from this.

Enough about me, I just think it is awesome that everyone is starting to post up 100 ball run videos. Bill opened the flood gates!!!

Once again awesome job Mike!

Keep Working On It.

Good to see you back here. Keep working on your skills. It will all fall into place sooner or later but hard work pays off.
I see that you are in the Army. God Bless you & all the troops in all our Branches of Service for protecting our Country.
I too was in the Army and loved it. I am very proud that I served.
Where are you taking lessons from Bert in July? In Dallas?
Bert plays in the Master's League that I play in. He is a gentlemen on top of a very well respected teacher of the game. If it is in Dallas, let me know and you can come over and we can play some 14.1
I'll cook you some good NY Italian food right here in Texas.

Thanks Steve

Way to go Mike! Will try to watch the run later today...

Thanks for the comment Steve. It would be an honor for you to watch my
video.

PS; Thanks Bill to you too. Watching your videos have helped me take my game to the next level. I am going to make it a point to go to Vegas for the first time next year and meet everyone.

It is in dallas Mike, I will be with my wife so if you don't mind cooking for two then that sounds great! PM me your phone number.

PJ's

Playing pool in pajamas!!!

I can't imagine how many balls i might run if i were THAT comfy.

Nice run!

Well, I guess I better handle this before it gets out of control.......LOL
I had a few comments on Facebook & e-mails on the pj's

All that I wrote back is. "When your Old.... Who cares......" LOL

Funny thing. After working all day out side, I took a good shower and put those pj's on. They are really comfortable & I was just going to relax. Well, I say to myself. I think I will shoot some pool for a little while. Then I thought, it would be something if I ran a 100 Then I said:
"No Way"........ Yes, way. There I am. I will say the wife got me them for when I went into the hospital and had some test run. I had nothing to wear. I think, I would of posted that 100 even if I was in my under wear. Now that would of been a sight to behold....LOL

Mike,

Three comments.

First, I enjoyed the run. You have a nice stroke and generally good rhythm. I also liked how you were often able to minimize cueball movement by utlizing side pocket patterns.

Second, along that vein, I think you may have missed an opportunity at 32:45. It looks like you never really considered shooting that dark ball in the side first. This would have accomplished some good things, most notably improving your angle on the lowest ball and also removing a ball from the cluster. By improving your angle on the break ball, you're giving yourself a lot more control over the cueball. As you can see, by shooting from where you were, it was anybody's guess where whitey would end up. (My usual disclaimer in pointing out this stuff is that we all miss some obvious patterns sometimes, but this one is slipping a bit into the "egregious" category ;), so I figured I'd point it out.)

Third, I nearly fell over when I heard Bruce's All That Heaven Will Allow at 24:15 - but not by Bruce. A quick google search and I'm wondering if this is the version by The Mavericks? Whoever it is, good on them!

Nice shooting!

Steve:
Thank you for taking the time to watch my run. I appreciate your comment on that cluster and your correct. I was getting flustered with
the lay out of the table & I was worried about the ball count. I knew that I was near 100 but was not sure if it was 96, 97 etc. I started just playing
one ball for one point at a time, which got me out of thinking clearly. I wish I knew that I was over 100. I think I would of relaxed and maybe played the pattern that you stated.
Hey, that music that I was playing was the Mavericks CD. They can
really sing & have a old time sound to them. Glad that you liked it.
Thanks again & I really mean it.

Thanks for the video. That was some great watching. I started playing straight pool a couple months ago and I am hooked. My story is a lot like yours. I sat next to an old man at an 8ball tourney and he got to telling me how I really need to learn the game because it would help me with all the other games. I've been going in to play straight pool with him once a week for a couple months and he is now like my 3rd grandpa. I ran 22 today to get out (he spots me 50 and had a bad day)and now, looking back, I wish I had tried to keep going. That is a long way from the 105 you showed us, but the best I've done to date. Thanks again.
