13 Butterflies From Siberia

I have 2 questions please. What is European taper as compared to the most common taper in the U.S. which is called pro taper? Second question, is it possible to change the weight?

Euro Taper: shaft starts getting thicker right away. Picture a cone.

Pro Taper: shaft stays same diameter for 8,10,12 inches back from the ferrule then gets thicker. Every cuemaker has there own preference for how long the keep the same diameter.

If you have 2 shafts that are both the same tip diameter and 1 has a euro taper and 1 has a pro taper, generally speaking the euro taper will have a stiffer hit.

Which one is better? Its all in the opinion of the shooter!

Hope that helps.

Now lets get this filled up! DiamondDave needs a new cue!

Very well said Dave. Thanks Jim

I met up with Jim in Vegas a few days ago and we spent the day shooting pool and touring the strip. He had brought all of Dmitry's cues with him and one of the things I can say is, it was a serious privilage to be able to try each and every one of them. The pics absolutely don't do these beauties justice.

The butterfly raffle cue was the first cue I went for and after trying all of them, the last one that I ended up shooting with. I kept going back to this one every couple of games. Dmitry tapers his handles a little smaller, which suits my smaller hands perfect. Perfectly balanced, your stroke becomes natural in your hand. The butterflies and points in this cue are flawless. A very solid hit and feel, the balls almost hit the pockets by themselves. The only problem I had was making all my balls before Jim got his in. IMO, these cues are priced considerably lower than what you'd normally pay for a cue of this quality, so for $25, someone is going to have a keeper that will hold its value indeffinitely.

DBK Cues

Bump to the top.

Lets get this thing rolling.

Note my DBK cue in the Gallery section. This cue plays very well and hits like a one-piece cue.

Dmitry does very good work.
