I have completed another 14.1 evaluation and I have posted it on Veoh.

Recently Krisz had a high run of 50 balls that he caught on tape - the video was recorded on his friend's cell phone - lol

The evaluation is about 30 minutes - at the link provided you can see the first 5 minutes - if you want to watch the entire video you will have to download the VeohTV player (That takes about 30 seconds).

I would like to thank Krisz for giving me the opportunity to help him improve at the game of 14.1 - there are some really nice shots in this run - and I also threw in a little video of me clearing the table during a recent 59 ball run - (I got out of position on my break ball - you will see that in the video)...

Here is the link
My Channel on Veoh

The quality of the video is not that great -but the lessons are in there - and there is a lot that everybody can learn from this one.

PS - Also - for those that have inquired about my 14.1 book - it will be finished on time - however I am not going to make it available until sometime in September. Danny recently released his 280 Ball run dvd - and out of respect I am giving him enough time to market it and sell as many as he can. Tentatively, I am looking at 9/20/08 as the date I will make the book available.

Blackjack: Thanks again for the marvelous service you are doing for us 14.1
acolytes. Soon we will be worthy to ascend the altar of Straight Pool and run a rack or two.

I downloaded this but haven't yet looked, what with the Harriman dvd out, the European 14.1 online, my videos of Hunter matches, and Diliberto lessons, your other dvds. What an embarrassment of riches. I think things are finally picking up.

Can't wait for your book. If it is full of diagrams like the ones you post with explanations like you give, it should help all of us.

By the way, I'm preparing my match with Hunter for upload. There are so many things that he does right.

Thanks Dennis

You are extremely blessed to have the opportunity to learn from Bobby Hunter. He is a great player - and just look how Bobby's mentoring has affected the career of "Mr.403" John Schmidt.

There is a lot of 14.1 material out there today. A few years ago, Danny Harriman and I were talking about how 14.1 was pushed to the side - and how so many players were robbing themselves of the benefits of straight pool. We both were kind of wishing and hoping that the game would get the participation and interest of the pool world again - and here we are today with so much knowledge and information being generated via this forum.

I believe that the interest in 14.1 started when John caught his 245 on tape. That started the ball rolling and the interest in 14.1 has spread like wildfire.

Today we have Kevin and 14and1.com starting leagues all over the country - we have a large collection of video (thanks to you, Dana, and others) and we have tapes such as the ones John has made, as well as Danny's 280 DVD - 14.1 match-ups on the IPT and TAR - High Run Challenge at DCC - Danny Diliberto lessons - Ray Martin's lessons - John's 14.1 clinics - all this interest in the game seemed impossible less than 3 years ago.

It amazes me how much the game has grown in the last few years, and it has been a team effort from all of us. A lot of what I have done over the past few months would not have been possible without the dedication of you, Dana, Bob Jewett, and many others. We're all just links in the chain -and basically (from my point of view) all I have done is thrown a headset on and flap my jaws - lol.

I would like to know the answer as well, and I hope for it to be positive.
I can easily pay via paypal and add some extra bucks for inernational shipment. Worked pretty well so far.

The book will be sold from the same website as my 9 ball book -

Link to the site - CLICK HERE

paypal is accepted as well as most major credit cards - not sure of the international shipping. The books are ordered through the storefront and shipped to the buyer from the publisher, so I never actually touch the books that are purchased online. They are shipped from NY. I might order some to sign and ship out - but the number will be limited due to the shipping costs.

i wouldn't mind paying a bit extra so you would sign it blackjack.
Let us know when its ready.

ps i watched your review of Krisz run and niels' run on your channel, and i would like to thank you for that. whatched both video's 3 times yesterday, woke up this morning and broke my record.

39 from the break without warming up. I'm sure i could do more in a more "awake" situation.

what made the difference?
1/ cleaning the triangle area sooner
2/ use the secondary breakball ASAP
3/ leaving myself a higher breakball (like niels does) and go of the top of the rack instead of a lower sidebreak.

i've been stuck on 20's for AGES. running them weekly, but nothing over 30 in months. now this 39 seemed easy. I feel i'll be running 40's VERY soon.

thanks for the effort op evaluating the video's. They make me see what i don't notice when looking at a match without comments.

Will you do more evaluations? I'd love to get a run on video and let you examine it. (doesn't need to have fancy tekst layered above the video etc..) tekst would be more then enough (to safe you some time)

thanks dave !

Solly

I am glad you were able to improve by watching those videos.

Congratulations on your new high run!

By all means, if you have a video you would like for me to evaluate - send it!

congrats Solly, thanks Dave! I hope I improve my own record when I manage to get to the table at last... for the first time in 6 months :(

Very good commentary, but it was the intro sequence that blew me away. That's great work David! Amazing what can be done on moviemaker if you have the creativity!

Dave, can't wait till the book finally comes out.

I watched your analyzation of krisz run, and wanted to mention a it helped me out. I wasn't paying attention as much as I should as where I was hitting clusters on shots (aside from my own inconsistent fundamentals).

I ran my high run of 38 last year (been playing pool for about 2.5 years), but so far this year the closest I've gotten was 27. Usually I get no where close to that (average high run of the night is usually about 16). Now sometimes, it depends on the opponent, but even when practicing myself.

I was able to get in the twenties pretty easily yesterday, so I suppose just a bit more work and I'll get back on track of my goal of 50.

Too bad Orlando is so far away! Maybe I'll get in that neck of the woods someday.

Thanks much!

Blackjack,

You do great with this video/evaulation.

I also noticed your stroke and that your eblow rarely drops.

By the way, your backhanded shot on ball 51 is a shot I would shoot a thousand times before I used a bridge.

Best Regards,
Hal
