14.1 Video- John Schmidt vs Thomas Engert

I really enjoyed watching this match.....thanks.

a good exercise in 14.1 would be to watch this match then watch maybe the Balsis vs Crane 1966 Championship match and watch the ball running AND the defence play. Present day players are SO strong running balls that I feel the intricacies of safety play are long gone....

to run 109, then lose with a few soft safeties and a behind the back miss....I would be kicking the dog when I got home!:)

FYI I love dogs, and have never kicked one!....

Then why would you? ;) The game was really nice, never seen Engert as a textbook player but in this match he almost made it there.

I just love comebacks in a pool game.

indeed great game, I enjoyed every second!!

This is a msg to the site owners, can we have more games for Earl strickland & some for Efren reyes too? Thanks!

almost great

That match was almost great. However, the way they played at the end was really really bad. Both missed easy shots and shape. But, they are are both better then me!

they really did seem to get nerves at the end. Or else it's that feeling players get where they're thinking "I shouldn't even be at the table now, I should already have lost long ago" and it makes them shoot less carefully.

But it does add excitement not knowing who will win =)

100ish from each player is really awesome, but Engert definitely has a hole in his safety game. You especially can't safe JS by just leaving him testers because he'll fire 'em right in. Prolly has something to do with his 9 ball experience. His stronger safeties prolly also come from that.

Thanks again to propoolvideo. They're getting sharper with the camera handling I notice, fewer zooms and plenty of editing... it's like watching luc salvas lawl =)

Thanks for that, nice video, enjoyed the game.......thought the commentary was awful though.

the "ambience" of the commentary sucked. i'm not a grady fan when it comes to commentary, but i thought he was,,,ok here. the other guy was flat, and they both sounded like they were in a bathroom watching the video. there was no energy in the air. it would have been better live, HOWEVER, if given the choice between live with no editing and overdubbing with editing, i prefer the latter. the match move along well, and i don't need anyone telling me what the players are doing anyway.

there was also a funny hollow sound in the audio. it had a nasty echo-like sound.

i respect Grady as a player/promoter, but his commentating skills are almost as bad and boring as poke stroke Hopkins! i personally thought John was a better commentator of the two. everytime Grady spoke i kept thinking of that monotone teacher from the Wonderyears!(instantsleepaid)........jeremy

I cant play videos from this site anymore

I emailed Jorge and he told me to update falsh player which I did but I still cant get them to play. All I see is a white screen where the video should be.
