Well Craig according to the Dragon Promotions website it looks like all the top guns will be there including Hohmann, Manalo, Feijen and Engert. Considering the field has all the current 14.1 greats this has to be truly considered a world championship. It's great to finally have a true 14.1 event where we get to see all the top players compete!

Does anyone know if Accu-Stats will be there taping matches?

I sure hope so, as there has not been a major 14.1 event since 2000 US Open.

It times like this I wish I still lived in NJ.

Thanks mate, I've seen the flyer but just curious as sometimes people cancel etc. Hope most of them are there though, especially Manalo, wish Reyes was playing too :(

This field is every bit as strong as the one at the 2000 US Open 14.1 event. There are a lot of world beaters in this field. I can't wait!

Anyone planning on playing the Amateur Open ?

How many balls do you think you need to be able to run to make a good presentation in the amateur one ?

Thanks !

I sent them an email regarding Rempe and West. Invited but declined.

How about Strickland, Harriman? Are they in?

I'm hoping to play. Since it is just a race to 75, and for B players only, you gotta reckon that knocking in a 30 will probably win the match.

14.1 world championships

For all the fans out there interested in information or following the event as it happens, I am proud to say that Seyberts.com will be our condiut to the world.

This site has a partial list of the players who have accepted their invitations and will be updated as appropriate. I can surely tell you that this event will be so talent packed, that there has never been an event like it.

Unfortunately, accustats will not be taping the event. My understanding though, is that there is an ongoing negotiation with a film company that will tape approximately 6 feature matches per day over the five days. Also included will be player interviews etc. The DVD set would be available shortly after the event.

I'd like to thank everyone for both their interest and support towards such an historic tournament.

Sincerely,

Randy Goldwater

Hi Hoboken. Just to inject a dose of reality, "non-pro" pool tournaments have historically been in name only. Some of the more premier "amateur" tournaments, such as Hopkins' Super Billiards Expo and the South Padre Island event in Texas, are filled with top-level players.

I would suspect that these matches will be very tough. You'll be lucky if you only draw a B, though since they're cutting the field off at 64, it's possible the first 64 to sign up might not be in the upper echelon.

In no way am I trying to dissuade you from playing, as you're going to get a ton of great experience. I just wanted to help set your expectations as to what the tournament is likely to become.

Thanks Steve, I really didn't know what to expect as far as standard was concerned. Darn, a tournament full of 63 SJMs and me! :)
