In a field of 235 players, including ALL THE TOP European players, 15-year old Mario He from Austria just won 9-7 in the semifinal against Ralf Souquet.

He will play the winner of the semifinal between Thomaz Kaplan and the winner of last event, Niels Feijen. Score 1-1 now.

He is the youngest player to ever reach a final of the Eurotour. Let's all hope he can score a win in this tournament, that would be awesome!

This has been his matches this eurotour, and he has beat some VERY good players. Tradjos, Babica, Reimering, Fulcher and Souquet are 5 of about 30 players that have won an Eurotour earlier, and Mario beat all of them in one single tournament!!! (this is the 97th eurotour)

He, Mario 5 vs 9 Hamrah, Azizullah
He, Mario 9 vs 6 Natali, Michel
He, Mario 9 vs 5 Au-Yeung, Michael
Vanderhoeven, Mikael 4 vs 9 He, Mario
He, Mario 9 vs 7 Trajdos, Wojciech
Ernst, Bruno 3 vs 9 He, Mario
He, Mario 9 vs 2 Babica, Radoslaw
Reimering, Christian 8 vs 9 He, Mario
He, Mario 9 vs 6 Higgins, Scott
He, Mario 9 vs 7 Fulcher, Jonni
Souquet, Ralf 7 vs 9 He, Mario

The semifinal against Niels Feijen and Kaplan can be seen live on www.bwin.com, or at www.eurotour.nu

The final will start in about 1,5 hours.

They did a mistake on the Eurotour Liberec Open in 2007, and on that tournament I think the pockets were 5 inch. Must have been, because I had 5 break and runs in one match, and my opponent had 3, and I won 10-4 :D (Guess the big pockets in that tournament was also the reason Manalo reached the semi ;))

On the other tournaments the pockets are not that big, but they are unfortunately slightly bigger than the Diamond tables. But definitely not 5 inch.

" yea i lost but i broke and ran 33 racks today, woohoo !! "

Lol, yeah I think there were more break and runs than normal :D

But still no big surprises in the outcome of the tournament. Tradjos is not well-known, but he is still one of the best in Europe. Stepanov was on fire that time, finished 2nd in the next Eurotour too, and 2nd in the European Championship in 8-ball just 1 week after, losing to Oliver Ortmann.

Manalo and Engert are always expected to do well in tournaments like this.

1. Trajdos, Wojciech POL
2. Stepanov, Konstantin RUS
3. Manalo, Marlon PHI
3. Engert, Thomas GER

Neils won the final 9-4.Beating Souquet in the tournament is an accomplish but knocking him out.memory for a life time:p
Some austrain he is...

Niels Feijen won 9-4 against Mario He.

When Ralf Souquet won the Netherlands Open and the Switzerland Open in the end of last year he was the first player to win back-to-back on the Eurotour since Johnny Archer did it in 1999.

Now Niels Feijen copied Ralf, and won the last tournament in 2008 and the first in 2009.

During the 18 tournaments before Ralf won back-to-back, the Eurotour had 17 different winners. (Reimering won twice in that period). The last 4 tournaments have had 2 winners, and Niels is now closing in the gap on Ralf's lead on the ranking.

So not only a big congratulations to young up-and-coming Mario, but also congratulations to Niels for winning two Eurotour's in a row. Not too many players have managed to do that!

On his way to the final Mario beat 4 Eurotour winners (names in bold)... and Radoslaw Babica, a very consistant polish player, who get 5 medals but never wins an Eurotour stop. Very impressive !

He, Mario 5 vs 9 Hamrah, Azizullah
He, Mario 9 vs 6 Natali, Michel
He, Mario 9 vs 5 Au-Yeung, Michael
Vanderhoeven, Mikael 4 vs 9 He, Mario
He, Mario 9 vs 7 Trajdos, Wojciech
Ernst, Bruno 3 vs 9 He, Mario
He, Mario 9 vs 2 Babica, Radoslaw
Reimering, Christian 8 vs 9 He, Mario
He, Mario 9 vs 6 Higgins, Scott
He, Mario 9 vs 7 Fulcher, Jonni
Souquet, Ralf 7 vs 9 He, Mario

I have first seen him playing in the 2008 Grand Prix Open in Switzerland. He impressed me a lot (his routine, the way he analyzes the table, his calm, etc.) . Then I was asking myself why he doesn't make much results... here we go. The worst is that he only plays the game until 3 or 4 years IIRC.

So, Manalo's playing in Europe now? Is that why we haven't heard much from him lately?

No, he doesn't play in Europe on a regular basis. He just came twice in Switzerland to play opens in 2006 and 2007. In 2007 the Eurotour was just after that he was in Switzerland so he had the opportunity to go there...

That's true. Manalo is not playing in Europe on a regular basis, he was just a "visitor" on the Eurotour.

Francisco Bustamante and Efren Reyes will perhaps "visit" the Eurotour in Sindelfingen, Germany, but it is not yet confirmed.

where did u get that info from ? that would be a great thing and it would bring the house down ! i will be there anyway :)

I talked to them at DCC. Bustamante told me that they were invited/considered to join this tournament in France, but that they started to plan it way too late.

Nothing is decided - time will show if they meet up. Hope they will, because I would like to play in Germany too.

EDIT: With my limited knowledge of the german languae I believe I figured out that the tourstop in Germany will be 10-ball, and that two other Eurotour's will be 10-ball too?! Can that be correct? Sascha or some other german-speaking people, please help me out here
