.

Thanks for sharing that 60 seconds was killing me...I'm glad I check to see if something like this was going on....love AZ!
BTW Great Job!!!

yes! Earl can capture a room's attention like no one else. He and Efren are a lot alike I think in that respect. Where EVER they are, most people are intensly watching their matches

Im gonna get me a t-shirt that says when Earls playing everybody listens....lol then on the back its gonna say im a Earlcoholic :D

Geeens...

to PoolBum thanks a ton for the updates. I would love to see Earl bring this one back to Greensboro.

This is serve him well for tomorrow I think. Winning a tough hill hill match should give him the confidence he needs against Corteza, because it's gonna be another tough one tomorrow.

I want to say this though... If Rafael had won I would have been almost equally happy for him. It's nice to see the veterans playing well. Which Rafael does consistently. Good job of getting to the hill with a guy like Strickland

Earl played a great game and held together well under pressure.

That's a champion, to have that much pressure and run that last rack was really cool. He could have givin' up after Martinez got on the hill but still found a way to win! GoooooooooooEarlll.............................

Just got home from the pool hall. Thanks so much for the update, I came straight to this thread. I am a fan of both players, and I would never had guessed it would be this close a match.

I had a ring side seat in the commentary booth. Rafael showed great composure throughout the match and should be acknowledged for it. This match had a little of everything - great shooting, terrific run outs, unforced errors, swings both ways and a great climax. Definitely a keeper on DVD.

I thought Earl handled the pressure fairly well, other than a couple of blow ups when he scratched in the side and when he missed an easy ball. What I didn't know from up in the booth, and found out later, is that Earl was talking the entire match, even when Rafael was shooting. If I would have been down on the floor I would have put a stop to that quickly.

I have no problem acknowledging Earl for winning, but bad sportsmanship is just that. Rafael showed class throughout the match and even when it was over he made no complaints to anyone. Give some credit where credit is due.

Didn't know Earl was talking when Martinez was shooting Jay, that's not cool. I watched the match and did see the shaft jammers when he scrached a couple of times but didn't know about the talking thing. Raphael played a wonderful match apart from a couple of mistakes and a little to much cue ball movement some of his shot making was magical. Hopefully he does well on the left side of the board and we see him go deep as well. I agree with you Jay about Martinez, he is always a class act and is strickly business at the table. Talking to the crowd is one thing but not when someones shooting. I wouldn't think he did it to shark Martinez though because Earl has also been known to have good sportsmanship.

Best thread I have ever read. this is the first time that I read a post about a previous match and yelled "yes!" after reading the post saying Earl won it. Everyone in my office looked at me like I am crazy. Oh well at least you guys understand. Even though Earl is a narcisist and I dont care for his personallity, I still love Earl the pool player. I just respect his ability so much. When he was teaching the class with archer I hung on to ever word he said hoping he would be drop pearls of info.

I hope he uses this close scare of a win to tighten up his shot group and play even better today. I know he can!
