Length of delivery time should be the least of your concerns. I would never, ever send anything of intrinsic value via a Ground carrier. Having worked damaged packages, as well as damaged package claims @ Fed Ex Ground, I have seen some real horror stories. THE only way I would ever ship a cue via a Ground carrier is if it were shipped in a PVC tube, with the appropriate declared value, and take pics of the package before it goes out, with a date stamp on the pics. I have seen how packages are often packed into the trailers, and common sense generally does not apply. You gotta remember these package handlers are not making great money, and are under severe time constraints to get the job done.
I have seen the necks snapped clean off of guitars shipped in their cases. I have seen a motorcycle tank, that was packed very well, dented. I have seen tube type boxes flattened, ends popped open, and empty. I have seen boxes so wet, that they were disintergrating. The only way to be sure that a package can survive the trip is to drop it from at least 4 ft, and then drop something heavy on top of it.
Spend the extra money and send no less than 2nd Day delivery. Rule of thumb is, the less time a package is in the system, the less likely something is going to happen to it.
