19 Cues just posted on ebay - high end stuff

Most sensible post, IMHO.

I'm no angel .. I've asked for off-eBay transaction or buy it now price for cues on eBay that I really wanted. I didn't care about other buyers or whether the cue got pulled.

I've also waited until last second to bid on the cue so I can get the cue for cheap ... I've asked many times for the reserve amount so I'll know the minimum amount the seller is taking on the cue.

If a cue gets pulled ... I just shrug and look for the next one.

Jumping all over Craingod on this thread is extremely unfair ... I'm sure majority of frequent sellers on AZ have pulled auctions one time or the other.

I'm sorry I asked the question in the first place. It was innocent enough. I had no idea he cancelled a lot of auctions. I was just curious.

I have had many auctions that were no reserve, no minimum. While I've sold some items for under what I would expect, this was more than offset by the ones that people fought over and got a higher value than expected.

Overall, I've found it balances itself in the long run. Plus people can get emboldened when there is a lot of bidding on an item.

Jazz,
You bring up a very valid point. I am sure that the majority (not everyone) of people in this forum that buy cues have asked for off ebay transactions. Meaning the seller pulled the auction, or was asked to pull it, for the "good" of the buyer. Making for a whole bunch of whiny hypocrites.
But I'll say it again, ebay is as much a cause of the problem, as is human nature.

If you don't like the way my auctions run, Don't bid or even watch. Only a couple of decent people on this site and they all have nice stuff. I guess it's true, you are all just jealous of everyone who made something of themselves.

First of all, I am not jealous of anyone on this board. I may admire their cue collection but I don't hold any resentment for them...lol. My problem is not so much someone pulling an item because they got a better offer or it sold locally, my problem is people ending the auction early because the bids aren't high enough when they've started a no reserve low minimum auction. It just doesn't seem ethical to me. I could care less if you do a deal and screw eBay out of their fees but if there's a minimum you want to get you should put a reserve on the thing or take what it sells for.

It's called having principles.

i think people are mad that if a seller gets an offer and they pull the auction...

i think people are mad because somebody beat them too it.. you ever notice.. now this goes with the workplace and other things..

people are extremely jealous when they see something work out for somebodt else and not for them.. when all they had to do in the beginning is email the seller with an honest solid offer, they may have gotten it.. but no.. everyone.. myself included always tries to wait and get it as cheap as possible..

just an observation how the world works..

Here is a tried and true technique for getting a cue that is up for sale, it isn't complicated, are you ready, here it comes, watch for it --- pay the seller a price that will convince him to let go of the cue. If you are not prepared/able to do that then you have nobody to blame but yourself.

A simple email to the seller asking him what price range he is looking to get for the cue will alleviate most of the frustration we all have experienced from time to time in our dealings with Ebay.

Some very intelligent posts here! If you want what I have, Ask for it. Everything is for sale all of the time. It will be sold to the first person with the money! Everytime!

Well... yeah.... but. don't you think most buyers cruising
EBAY are looking for a bargain? I know that's my motive.
I've got a lot more cues than I need. To me it's a game
and I bet I'm not alone. There's been times when I want
a cue bad enough to cut to the bottom line but I usually
do that with dealers. most of them will wheel & deal with
me.

Fleebay changed their page format. :~(

They don't list the starting price anymore. Buyer beward....

I am leaving Fleebay for good and sticking to my new friends on AZ. :D
